Subject: Visemes in 3rd Party Figures

redtiger7 ( ) posted Tue, 12 February 2008 at 7:41 PM · edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 8:36 AM

I just started using Talk Designer (P7) and wanted to use it with Vitoria 4. But it asks for the viseme file and I can't find V4's. (Even though I have the phenomes. I tried using one of teh ones included with P7, but it didn't work too well. Anybody know if and where I can get Viseme files for 3rd party characters?

Hi,

It appears that Content Paradise has dropped the Talk Designer Expansion product from its catalog, as the above link now defaults to their home page, and a search of the site comes up empty. My Google search of the Web also came up empty. Does anyone know if the product is still available, or if not, why it was discontinued?

I see that bluegene has kindly offered a solution for V4 here in FreeStuff, but no such luck for poor V3. I may have to create my own. If I do and can get it working, I'll share it here too.

Thanks,
Ricky

Hi,

Thanks, Anakele. Apparently the Expansion has been replaced by the Assistant.

Or you could make your DAZ Figures Dork compatible by spawning the same expression morphs the P4 Dork or P5 Don use. How you ask? Here are the steps:

Place Don/Dork and your 3rd party figure in Poser side by side. Dial Don or Dorks expression morphs to 1.0 one at a time. Use your 3rd party figures existing morph dials to pose their face to match each and every expression morph of Don/Dork and then go to Poser's Object menu and click "Spawn Morph Target" and spawn a morph with the exact same name as the one used by Don/Dork for that expression. Once you've gone through and copied each expression morph to your 3rd party figure in that manner you end up with a figure that can use any animated talking pose that Dork or Don can use. This also works with Posette or Judy for the females.

This works with both Talk Designer AND Mimic!

LostinSpaceman,
You are almost right about Talk Designer.  You are ignoring the problematic of the teeth and tongue.  They are are dependant on some of the expression morphs but they're displacement will not be added to any new spawned morphs.  If I am wrong please post a video to that affect.

This is how I make my own Viseme files

You're quite right. I am ignoring the teeth and Tongue of the M4 V4 figures. My methods worked fine up to the Millenium 3 figures though. I haven't bothered to update them for the Mil4 figures because I haven't personally had the need to do so.
