Okay, I am eased - and Antonia is already in my pocket 😉 The only thing I have to find out now is what to keep and what to cut-and-paste into a "previous versions" folder...

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

Ooh!  The new release!  Thank you!  :D

In testing the old-mapping version, I'm noting an oddity about the eyes.  It looks like the sclera material is spilling over into the iris area or something.  The effect is hidden by the eyelids at default.

I've applied the materials from the previous version.  Is there any incompatibility with the new old-mapping version?

Edit:  Okay, I see.  It's in the eyeball geometry, not the materials.

Cage: That looks very strange. I'll have a look and see if I can reproduce that effect. Actually, my first guess would be that that portion of the eye had somehow been
deformed.

It looks like it's part of the .obj file, not a result of anything Poser's doing, or an oddity of the .cr2 file.  I haven't looked at all the geometries, but it shows up in all the new figures I've loaded.

Well spotted, Cage! It's a glitch in the geometry that I hadn't caught and that got propagated through all the obj files.

Will fix that and put a new zip-file up when it's done. I guess that will be version 0.9.121.1 then.

Okay, it's fixed. I've decided not to assign a new version number, after all. Just download and unzip again and everything should be fine.

Many thanks for spotting this!

That was quick!

Everything looks great, here.  I had to make some slight alterations to my character to accommodate the change in eyeball size, but that was easy enough.

Thank you for a wonderful figure.  Antonia brings back the enjoyment I had with Poser years ago, before the ubiquitous bad joints began to frustrate me.  The figure is a joy to pose, because it actually poses well.  Fantastic!  :D

Once I iron out a few kinks, I believe Antonia will have her first ...ahem... revealing outfit :) I figure on making a PSD version so that the suit can be put on any texture (with the proper graphics program). For those without a good layering app, I'll also include a material file tailor made for Dimension3D's 2nd Skin program. The above promo shows his product in action.

A couple requests, if i may:

ODF - Keep up the great work!!! Finally, a modeler who 'gets it' on posability! Thank you 1000x!

Phantom3D - Any chance of fixing V3's legs so that they will look good when bent more than 30 degrees? I know V3 is old news, but I just can't catch on with the V4 bug. Y'kno?

SaintFox - When the above suit (and others like it) are ready, is there any chance of collaborating with you to make a base texture that I can put these suits on for distribution? The credit will be shared equally, of course.

For layering, Gimp is free.

http://www.gimp.org/

Now that there is a version of Antonia with a stable rig and geometry, maybe PhilC will make an extra figure support package for Antonia to use with Wardrobe Wizard 2? I would buy it. I wonder if he could be encouraged to comment on that in this thread?

If dphoadley can successfully remap Antonia to V3 textures, then Zew3D's Clother products can be used with Antonia. With some effort, one can make content to use in Clother. The files are just PNG's with the extention renamed.

odf ( ) posted Sun, 31 January 2010 at 4:00 PM

Just a word of caution regarding the "stable rig and geometry": I wouldn't want to claim that too strongly before Version 1.0.0 is actually out. First of all, there will still be changes in the hands and feet. That's probably not relevant for most clothes, but it should be kept in mind. Also, I haven't quite decided yet whether the ankles need JCMs. They would be rather subtle, but apparently I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

Second of all, there are some issues, particularly the pointiness of the bent knees, that bug me and that I might work on if I think I can make a substantial improvement. There's also a small glitch in the shoulder rig that makes the mesh break at one point when she lifts her arms up all the way. Fixing that would actually require taking polygons away from the chest actor and reassigning them to the collars.

So I'd definitely say we're getting close to a stable version, but we're not quite there yet.

Rogerbee1 ( ) posted Mon, 01 February 2010 at 4:06 AM

I seem to remember that there was a mesh break in GND2 when she raised her arms. Not sure either whether this ever got fixed. Whatever you do with Antonia can only make her better.

Sorry to jump the gun odf, I guess I am a little too enthusiastic about your project.

The last female figure with real potential to hit the market, Eva, had a WW2 support package, which I bought and downloaded before the trouble started. Little one, and Goblinz are also supported.

I am hoping that Antonia and Brad will get that kind of support too. PhilC is usually very forth coming with his work.

I note that Phantom3D, in his thread titled "Finally!" is making progress with his Brad figure.

These are exciting times for Poser users, who have been waiting for figures that are rigged to work properly in Poser. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Thanks for the new version.

When extracted to the root Poser folder "Antonia-0.9.121.zip" installs to to a folder named "Antonia-0.9.121" rather than to the Runtime folder as previous versions did. Is this intentional or an oversight?

To be honest, I hadn't really thought about that too much. Since I tend to use lots of different Runtime folders, I find it slightly more convenient that way. But I'm happy to revert to the old scheme if people prefer that.

facepalm

Thanks Les! You're absolutely right. I'll tell you what happened: when Cage noticed the geometry glitch in the eyes, I plugged in the old eyes from Version 117, but forgot that I had changed the sizes of the eyeballs in between. How stupid! swears under his breath

So in effect, Antonia-121 has the smaller eye sockets to fit the corrected eyeballs, but the current download still comes with her over-sized eyeballs. This is not hard to fix, but I'm off to work in a few minutes, so it'll have to wait until tonight, lest I commit some new blunder while trying to make this right.

The poses were posted to the "Antonia Developers" site. Access to this site is by invite only, and an invitation is usually issued when someone contributes an item (morph, clothing, texture, pose set, etc) for Antonia.

I think that odf prefers items for Antonia not to be available for general release quite yet, and I think that this is because Antonia is still under development and may undergo changes that could affect the functioning of some items (though this is probably not very relevant to pose files). Otherwise I would post the poses to sharecg.com. **

Perhaps odf could clarify whether what I have said above is correct.**

odf ( ) posted Tue, 02 February 2010 at 2:57 PM

Les, that's actually a bit of a misunderstanding. The developers site was meant for developers to share items that they think are not ready yet to be made public. I have no problem at all with people releasing free content for Antonia into the wild, even if she's not quite ready. Clearly stating the latest version the product was tested against might be a good idea, though.

My only reservation at this point would be against putting up content for sale unless the price included a free upgrade to make it compatible with Antonia 1.0.0 when she is released.

No I did not. This is not through any sentiment of radical naturism, but simply because I can't find any facility on the  Upload page at sharecg where a  nudity flag can be added. If you know how to add a nudity flag at sharecg, please enlighten me!

Neither can I find any guidance on sharecg as to what is or is not allowed in images. So in the absence of any obvious prohibition on nudity, I assumed that it is OK on that site.

As such, Les isn't being a reactionary in my view, but it would be radical if no one noticed when naked people were involved. People just have such extreme reactions, especially in America. I'm American, and I remember how people who practiced Naturism in the 1960's and seventies were viewed as radicals. We're into the twenty-teens now and people haven't changed much.

Actually naturism or Nudism was at one time also called Gymnosophy (I think I spelled that right) and has been practiced since 1930...in America (Stripping away the unnecessary and exposing the bare facts about the raw nature of the human experience.).
But I am sure the practice and the underlying philosophy(s) go back even further.

For every radical there will be at least as many Puritans more than willing to punish and or dress them. :)

The new UVs are now the official ones as declared by me. I guess that means you can safely assume that they're around to stay and start developing texture maps for them. SaintFox has a texture for them that will - as is my understanding - be released very soon, and there's also an unreleased one by BluEcho.

I think you should now be reasonably safe for body morphs. Even with the past geometry changes, most morphs still worked fine, and I won't do anything that radical (like changing the breast or head size or lifting the pelvic floor) anymore. If someone discovers another unsightly dent or lump somewhere, that kind of thing might still get fixed, though.

** odf**,

Perhaps this is nit picking, and it is an aesthetic judgement rather than a technical point. I feel that the eye lids are too deep in the 121 figure, I also prefer the shape of the outer corner of the eye in the 118 geometry.

odf ( ) posted Wed, 03 February 2010 at 11:43 PM · edited Wed, 03 February 2010 at 11:44 PM

Thanks! Looking at your comparison right now - admittedly without a reference at hand - I actually think that 121 is an improvement on both counts. But I'll check that.

The lid "profile" might actually be a but more rounded in reality, which could be the reason Antonia's appear too thick. Also, a real person would have a little reflective tear "rim" between the inner edge of the lower lid and the sclera and iris like in V4. Antonia doesn't have that, because I figured if someone needed that level of realism, they'd probably be more than competent to make a prop or use some  material trickery to achieve the effect.

Anyway, not to discourage you. With all the things you've spotted, I think by now you must have earned yourself the title "Kind of Antonia testers" or something like that.
