Subject: HELP WITH POSER CUSTOM FIGURES

Ghost ( ) posted Sat, 09 October 1999 at 5:23 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 8:05 AM

Hi guys. Now for those of you who have them, you might be enjoying my warhammer figures but i'm missing one important detail: HELMETLESS FIGURES! How the heck do i replace the figures head with a poser4 head AND keep it ONE figure. Also, i want the basic morphs on there too. I don't care for moveable eyes though. so those can be part of the head. ANY ideas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, you can specify a obj to be included for a body part by something like this: actor head:2 { objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:maleHeadOnly:finalHeadOnly.obj } You may have to edit the CR2 to get the eyes in and maybe change some names to make it work, but you can look at the poser male figure for what should be there. Then copy all the morphs by hand out of the old cr2 and into the new cr2. That objFileGeom line is suposed to be on only one line, not wrapped as it looks on my screen. If you do it this way there is also no copyright problem. To be honest I've never tried it in anything as complex as a full human figure, but it should work. Try it and please tell me how it works.

Definetly! If it works this should be a poser first!!

To access a file in a .CR2 file, do this, it is well known, even on a PC:- actor head:2 { objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:maleHeadOnly:finalHeadOnly.obj } where e.g. :qaz:wsx:edc is Mac language for qazwsxedc , the filename being relative to the Poser directory. But if the geometry file is not in the Poser directory tree, what is Mac language for an absolute file address e.g. d:spacealiensGrey.obj , and will it work in Poser on a PC?

I always place my objs in the poser directory. On a unix box you could build a sym link to it, but the Evil One has not seen fit to do that with windows. I think I once saw a reference to how to make it work, but I forget the details.

(1) Who is "the Evil One"? (2) I once needed to change a figure's head (to help someone to make the Grey alien who is in the Props Guild), and I did that by editing the .OBJ file and then pulling vertexes about at the join to weld the join properly.

Bill Gates is the Evil One and his henchcritters form the Evil Empire.
