I've used Lux with Blender. If you want to use it, be prepared for extremely long render times. Each version gets a bit faster but all render engines of that type are slow. 60 or 70 hr renders are not unusual but the result will be beautiful

there's hope on improving the render speeds tho... they're working on a OpenCL version that will use the GPU for rendering.... having tried out Octane Render and seeing how fast a GPU render engine can be, I'm looking forward to it :)Very interesting. I loaded the included test scene and rendered on my craptop for an hour. It looked very good.
I now doubled the dimensions to 1600x1000 and am rendering it again.
Anybody want to help me skip reading the docs and tell me how to save the render?
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
from memory, you have to copy the render to the clipboard. I'll just fire up blender a second and have a look. There's a button just to the right of the thread + and - buttons which copies the active render to the clipboard.
If you look under the LOG tab, it also writes out a tone mapped image every few seconds and it should tell you where that is written - you can pull the image from there as well

This is 1600x1000, cooked for exactly one hour, 50 samples per pixel. Still a little grainy in places, but cooking it for another 3 hours should fix it.

Wow, BB, very impressive and you used the LuxRender?
I like to try that out and see for myself, it'd be nice if there were plug-ins for Poser, and also SketchUp.

This is one of the many physically based ray tracing programs that are available. I will take a look at the developer documents and see if an exporter for PoseRay is feasible. The one for Kerkythea was very easy but it was the geometry and materials only. LuxRender may require the camera and lights too.

Materials in Lux are nothing like Poser ones. If you think the Poser material room is scary, you should see the Lux exporter in Blender. I seem to remember reading on their website that the materials are physically accurate but I could be wrong

I hear about Luxrender here and like to try it out.

First gotcha is vertices in different order, I was think to cut/paste obj and add some of Lex specific lines, but no.
Transparency mapping is unique. Depending on what layer of shader using, you can have either white or black for see through.
To make camera position from Poser is difficult, because poser don't have target point, just angles and XYZ. Maybe they have such a point because some cameras have different axis to rotate, but I can't find it. So have to fabricate a "point of interest" for their "LookAt" statement.
Maybe there is way to translate poser shader to Lux, but I have not such talent. Actually would be waste of time because Lux has much power to tap and should not limit yourself to only what poser can do.
For own purpose, best way is making into scene file with barebones reference to textures and build own shaders in Lux.
Hopefully, this picture link work and I show sample for two hours render on ancient PC.

I certainly prefer Povray to Kerkythea. Getting Poser scenes fairly quick and easy into Vray is the path to look at if you're a Python script geek. I'm able to do it through Blender and Vray is top drawer, but there are still some limits.

So many renderers, so little time. Sunflow looks interesting and like Kerkythea has instancing which is a cool feature. Since the latter already supports MLT, I'm not that excited about another glacial "accurate" engine. Targeting 3Delight would seem rather superfluous with Daz Studio around. Just to be clear, it isn't my scene. It came with LuxRender. I just loaded it and pushed render.

Ive found that Lux Is awesome for Architectural scenes as of right now..version 0.7 should have SSS which will expand its use to organic realism and character work....pose and export from poser - imort into blender , light, shade, apply Lux materials and render with Luxblend. I cant wait to see some of your renders , this is a subject Ive been excited about for quite some time now!!
