Help me more help is nescessary. Any suggestions for how to increase ambient light reaching the source object withought creating the sot light effect or digitally lightining the picture. I want to take a picture indoors but avoid the effect seen in the attached picture. Bsteph

Need more info... What is the light source now? How large an area is this? How close are you to the scene?

I just think this is such an original idea....WOW...I have all these little figures on my desk near the computer, Edward Scissorhands, manga characters....etc....LOVE IT

Too weird. Today, before any of us read this, hollowmen sent me a photo he just did of a 'soldier' of his. Action figure kind of thing. Looked pretty cool too. Hmm...must be some sort of simultaneous brainwave :-P

Alpha-Hmm. I'm working from memory some what. Oviously there is a lamp which I was attempting to use as a light source ( I'd hoped it would be a secondary one). It was about 10-12 feet away - and it's the eventual white spot in the far upper left. There is a second light from the top about two and a half feet away BUT aparently it didn't do that much. Strange. The subject collection is about a foot wide and I took the picture about 15 inches feet from them. The mirror is maybe four inches behind them tops. Probably 3 inches. I hope this does it. Syyd-Thanks. I have huge action figure collection. Can never get enough. Constantly stopping myself. I've seen the Edward Sisorhands. Not quite sure what to do with one. That reminds me I was going to make another robot and action figure picture. Thanks for the reminder. Marshmallow-I'm not quite sure. I think making models is more fun-depends of the subject or either. In general, I think photography and model building clicks about 90 percent of the same pleasure centers but I feel more creative with model building and photography to me captures experiences and memories which I could loose. Besides I've been building models for almost 3 decades. WOW. I gained an interest in photography about three or four years afer I built my first model. Can you convince him to forward the soldier to me. Or better yet just post it!! I would like to see it. Bsteph

I think some reflectors are the answer here. Try taking two or three pieces of white mounting or poster board and setting it so that it bounces your light back into the scene. The trick is to get them close enough without interfering with the set up. You can also take one of these and trace the circle of your lens, cut it out and then slip it over the lens. This will do a couple of things for you. First if yu are close enough, it will act as a reflector and add light to the scene. Second, if it is large enough, it will allow you to shoot closer without the camera being picked up in the mirror (possibly... depends on the angle). Hope this helps :)

Decided to use the sun as a light source instead. I also used the white card trick. It definitely couldn't hurt. Plus it hid some of the anoying details. Bsteph

Okay I'll get him to post his soldier for ya. And that pic looks like it is getting somewhere - it's a little blurry though, but I am guessing it's the lighting that is your main concern now? I like the chick standing on a CD...wish I had legs like that!!! :-P
