Subject: Poser for Printing?

slb75 ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 1999 at 10:08 AM · edited Wed, 13 November 2024 at 3:10 PM

Call me crazy, but the box says I can use Poser 4 to make a print. I have 2 and a 1/2 times as much memory as the box says I need for the program, but it won't let me render anything above 72 dpi. Has the fact that this is a bug been concluded? There are so many messages on this board... I'm supposed to have 2 people created and printed out to send to a printer by tomorrow pm. I have created it, but it keeps crashing when I render. Any help would save my a$#. THanks, Sarah

I think there is a way to do it. I think it had to do with rendering to disk. I will go look now Spike

Ok Try this forget about the dpi setting and look at it from the other end. you want a print so you should have 300 dpi right? lets say you wanted it 8" X 10" at 300 dpi. 2400 / 300 dpi = 8" 3000 / 300 dpi = 10" Take the output size you want X the dpi = pixcl so a 8" X 10" image at 300 dpi would be 2400 X 3000. I hope this helps Spike

Is this going to look pixelated if I print it out onto a poster?? I don't understand how if we spread 72 dpi onto a huge image and then shrink it, that it would be good for print.... any other way???

Forgot to say once you have your 2400 X 3000 image you will need to take it into Photoshop or any paint program and set the image to 300 dpi. Spike

Well, the poster is going to be 42x30, but I'm giving it to the printer at 21x15, so he's already scaling it up 50% for me at the shop. So, I'm trying to do this Poser image at 15x13. I also tried what you told me - that formula. It wouldn't let me do that either... I don't understand...

for a 15" X 13" Set it to this 4500 picx X 3900 picx at 72 dpi. WARNING!!! This render will take some time and the file will be big. Spike

This is all great info. I'm building a web site for artists, including Poser/Bryce 3d artists to sell their work as posters. File size will be essential for this to work ... and Please e-mail me with ideas or suggestions for the new site. I'm building the main part now and will finish as soon as I have my new computer system. I'll keep you all posted. I've already found a Print shop to partner with this project and I think it could be a great simbiotic relationship of gallery curator and artist and customer. Peace Boni
