Subject: removing rulers? help!!

erosiaart ( ) posted Wed, 17 March 2010 at 10:56 PM · edited Wed, 15 January 2025 at 11:32 AM

Have to create a billboard..using an old one I created as a template. However, there are tons of ruler lines all over it. how do I remove them without pushing each one out separately? Clicking  ruler on and off in the view option won't help as I need to create a new set of ruler lines..
Help!
thanks a ton..

I assume you mean guides and not rulers. Guides are the lines pulled out from the rulers.
If you want to delete the guides go to View > Clear Guides

yup..that was exactly what I meant!
Thanks..

Yes, guides are usually blue lines by default. You can also use the move tool “V” key to move the guides around and even off the screen (delete) altogether. The rule tool itself can be controlled with keyboard “ctrl + R”. Or to hide the guides press “Ctrl + ;”.

Only a day late scott. That's a normal male reaction LOL.

Another way to hide (not delete) is to turn off Extras ...  View > Extras or Ctrl + H. It will hide not only guides but grids, marching ants, slices etc.

It's too hard to remember each and every keyboard shortcut but Ctrl + H is one that is etched into my brain.

Lol.. ..sometimes when you in the middle of everything, simple things slip out of your mind, and though you know it, and it is staring right at you, you can't see it.
That's what happened here.
Thanks a gazillion everyone for jogging my memory! I blame my forgetfulness on 37 deg Cel summer that we going thru!
Cheers
