Subject: How to reduce thumbnail to 15k or below

Ok, I've uploaded thumbs for my pics before but for some reason I can't get the thumb below 21.7k so I  can't upload. I need to upload a thumb for violence type pic.

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS2. I'm just not figuring it out. I make a thumb 100x100 and reduce EVERYTHING to its lowest possible and then save and it won't go below 21.7k. I'm getting frustrated. any help would be appreciated. Also, in the prog when saving, it says its like 6.xx in size but its not.

If it's the same as PS 7 you should get a screen that has a little box you can check for optimizing & under that should be a slider bar that you can use to adjust your thumbnail down to 15 k..

Use Save for Web. You can reduce the resolution accordingly. There's a slider in there that allows you to keep reducing the resolution as needed. You can probably use a 200x200 pixel thumb as well if you use that option.

I don't bother with the sliders. I click the Optimize menu pulldown in the Save for Web window and select "Optimize to File Size..." and plug in 21.7 (or whatever size) in the "Desired File Size" box.

If you have an option NOT to save metadata in the file, that helps as well...

Getting rid of ANYTHING extraneous will help save the most space possible for image data.
