Hi, it's me again. Okay so its the same bear, but this time the problem is the paws! The tutorial Biscuits showed me was great, except that it covers hands, not paws. The problem is that the only child bones I need are the for thumb1 and thumb2 on both paws, but if I try to make a bone going from the "hand" to the thumb parts it makes the hand connected to the thumbs when I want the hand to go down into the mitten of the paw and then have one of those lines(not bones) go from the hand bone to the thumbs so the thumbs can move independently. Here's a picture of whats going on now...

create a dummy bone at the end of the hand bone and than you will be able to draw your new thumb bone.

Okay so how do you get the thumb to stay connected to the hand? I already welded them, now what? lol

not sure what you mean by you already welded them, but once you draw the dummy bone you just reselect the hand bone and you will be able to draw the first thumb bone separately from the hand because the hand is anchored at the end to the dummy,

Actually what I meant was after I made the new bones like you suggested, I switched back to the Pose room and the thumb is completely disconnected from the hand.

PS: I just opened the project again and now the thumb is completely gone... :| This is bad...

The problem comes with HOW you created the dummy bone that way mentioned. I suspect that when you take a look in the parent child relationship for the thumb / hand and new dummy bone something will be out of place. The new bone was probably created off of one of the thumb bones....and not the hand. Take a fresh look at it......It has happened to me one too many times!!

Strange, the only reason the thumb mesh would disapear on reload is if the thumb bone was named differently than the mesh, if poser doesn't see a bone for the mesh group it wont bother loading the mesh group. check your internal bone names, and as phionix said you need to make sure that both the thumb and the dummy bone are separate children of the hand, not in sequence. if they are disconnected as you said, when you go out of the setup room than that may be because you didn't reselect the hand after creating the dummy bone and before creating the thumb bone.

ahhh yes, the internal naming does it too.... forgot that point.

You might have mistakenly renamed the thumb when thinking you were renaming the new dummy bone.
