Would be nice to know.

well the rain is the dear old volumetric cloud made tiny and rarefied and placed in front of the camera; I'll send some settings screenshot as soon as possible

Looks fantastic!  I'm not sure I'm following the screenshots though, I mean I can see the settings, but how are you getting it to appear the raindrops are falling?  Or is that a visual deception based on what my eyes are expecting to see and they are not necessarily falling at all, but rather randomly changing position and my mind is percieving them as falling?

Very cool to see though, however you did it :)

rexus ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2010 at 2:04 AM

both that is to say that if you increase some settings slightly, rain moves to one direction in a chaotic way and vice versa. another trick: managing the scale, you can simulate a drizzle or a tropical rain

That is hard to see.  If you had not told me it was there, I would have missed it.

Neat. I didn't ever think of doing it that way. :)

you're right UVDan, it's hard to see the motion so in the attached file I used the same cloud, changing only some parameters to simulate a waterfall and there the motion towards a single direction is more perceptible

Yes, the waterfall is much easier to see.  It looks great.
