Subject: Vector Graphic Program?

O.k., I have photoshop, and I LOVE it for print work, but I'm needing something that works well from web based art. I've been using PS6 for it, but I'm rather disappointed with how circles, curves, and pretty much anything that is not straight seems to be pixelated. So what I'm wondering is: What is a good program for vector based drawing? I would also like to use photoshop plugins with it...if at all possible. Thanks in advance! Jared

Macromedia Freehand might be what you're looking for, but I'm not sure if it uses PhotoShop plugins.

Like Marigold I prefer Freehand,possibly because I was taught on it,but most people I know who use both Vector & Bitmap combine "Illustrator" with "Photoshop". The two are the most compatible,as they are both designed by Adobe and have some similar styles of plug-ins. Because Vector & Bitmap are such different types of programmes I don,t think you can use one set on the other,although there may be exeptions.I believe that "Fireworks" is also Vector based,and is cheaper and aimed at web designers, although I haven,t used it myself.

Yes but you all can use Flash 5 for both vector and bitmap images plus add javascript or actionscripts as well as animation and any thing else you can put your mind too.. Im presently trying to learn ps6 as its really different from 5.5 but im just started so dont really have a clue where to start.. heh.. Im reading a book flash 5 graphics, animation, and interactivty by James L. Mohler.. anyone care to come along with me to learn/help eachother.. heh0r see ya all in a few minutes or years depending on how long im here..

You might also try out CorelDraw 10. While most designers hate Corel with a passion, it is really a rock-solid programm with an easy to use interface. CorelDraw will use Photoshop-PlugIns - at least on the imported images. Joerg

I use illustrator. Like Photoshop, it's pretty much the standard

One of the best vector based software is Flash, in my opinion... cuts your image size to very small so the download time is very short. You can do cool animations and other manipulation... If I was to invest into new software, Flash would be my choice.

yo, vector progs do not use bitmap plugins (say photoshop) plugins.... here go a list of vector progs fireworks-www.macromedia.com canvas-www.deneba.com coreldraw-www.corel.com ilustrator-www.adobe.com expression-sorry don't know the page for it.... this are vector progs, for drawing and designing, I use corel draw and I like it, it gives me what I need for doing web pages and so on... Flash comes in hand when doing animation and scripiting.... hope it helps....
