Subject: Help With DAZ STUDIO 3 and the Free Models

SFRealm ( ) posted Thu, 20 May 2010 at 3:22 AM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 9:21 PM

I downloaded the software and v4.2 and some of the other free models - when I open them in DS3 I do not know how to change the clothes.
How do you do this?
TIA

Assuming you already know the clothes can be found in the Figures folder, to change their textures (if they have them) can be found in the Poses folder. If this is of no help, I will need more information as to which clothing you are referring to.

I can't seem to remove the clothes that came with the free v4.2 and the free she freak. here's an image capture.

Some clothes are actually painted on the skin. You have to load a different plain skin.

Thanks for the tip.
Are there any free ones around?

In Daz Studio you should look under the "Pose" folder. There should be some skins already there for Victoria 4 without painted clothes.

Renderosity -> Free Stuff, there are some V4 morphs with skins. You will have to do a "search" to find them.

Also I visit www.sharecg.com and pick up a lot of free stuff there. You need a open account to download. Don't worry it's free.

Daz's own Free Vault = http://free.daz3d.com .They don't make it easy to find their Free Vault, which is really strange considering they put a free item on the market at least once per month.

Also check out Renderosity -> Market Place -> Poser or Daz Studio department -> Clearances. You can pick up some great low prices stuff in their clearances section.

Important Note = A lot of free stuff don't play nice in Daz Studio because they were originally written for Poser. You may have to get your hands dirty and edit their files. Not for the faint hearted.

OK found the folder - thanks for the tip.
As far as the rest of the tips I haven't found them yet - any clues for search words?
I have tried:
v4.2 skins
v4.2 textures
v4.2 mats

Victoria has plain skin textures too. Go into the CONTENT tab and select POSES, then select DAZ CHARACTERS, in the next menu selection, select DAZ's VICTORIA 4. You should now see the next menu list. Select MATERIALS SAMPLE-RES. In there you can select the !All_Natural_NG which is the same skin without the default clothing MATS.

I hope this helps you.

Your search query is too specific. These sites have very general search engines. Just type in Victoria. Then spend a few hours sifting through the results. It's a pain I know but it guarantees you eventually find something.
