Subject: A question on your clothing workflow.

hey guys,

I'm now havening my first go at setting up and rendering my characters in Poser. However, I was just wondering about other peoples work flow when it comes to fitting cloths.

Because, I cam from Daz3d I'd bring the character in, and then add the clothes (as you would do with Poser). However, I didn't use the morph tool (for the clothing) all that much, unless I could help it as it gave me unpredictable results at times. So I'd generally just try and manually adjust the cloths and "hide" libs that are poking through etc.

Do you guys do something similar, or would you always use the "wardrobe wizard" for all clothes fitting.

Thanks!

Rob.

I work on the basis of, if there's clothing, you (usually) can't see the body underneath, so I make the body parts invisible.  I use WW if I'm working with a heavily morphed character and the clothes won't take the appropriate morphs otherwise.

Anyhow, why d'ya think most people make renders of nekkid Vicky?  Much easier.  ;)

Heh... that's the way to do it alright. :)

When I get a new item of clothing, I check the readme to see what morphs (if any) come with the clothing. I then decide which character (my group of morphed V4s saved as cr2s) I'm going to dress in this item. The clothing item is run through Morphing Clothes by D3D and character-morphs are inserted.
That morphed item is saved into the folder with the corresponding character.

Then, I look at (and invariably tweak) the materials. This includes GCing (and setting Diffuse() down to .85), unticking Reflection_Lite_Mult which is always ticked, and if there is any specularity, making sure CoE is part of the shader scheme.

So, buying a new item is a 3-5 hour time investment, minimum.

Wow... THATsounds a lot more involved than I thought it would be..Cool.

I'm still pretty new to it som I'm kinda' nervous about messing around with the settings, etc. :)

Take your time with it - it'll all fall into place. I didn't start out doing all this hooha... kind-of started to happen as I learned stuff on here.

For V4, checking your readme tends to emphasise the importance of Magnetising your clothing item to your figure. This can make life easier, or be a real PITA... depending what you're trying to do. But for the most part, Magnetise.

Hey **RobynsVeil,

Thanks for the advice. :)

I've seen the magnatise options for V4 alright, but I was never really too sure on how to use it. Do you inject them in much like a morph? Sorry for the noob question. :)

Cheers,

R.**

Yep, you just double-click on Magnetise (with the clothing item selected).
