Subject: OT but please indulge me - had some very bad news.

After much nagging my father - who has not been well for a few weeks - went to see his doctor.  Doc sent him for some tests and now the results are back.

In one lung, and I quote, "A seven centimetre mass consistent with cancer".  So, although not entirely definite - more tests and biopsies on the way - it doesn't look good.

Please spare a kind thought for my dad, my hero.

Hopefully its one mass that they can remove. Even if they have to take the lung the prognosis should be OK .  Best wishes to you both.

I've been through that - twice - and I must say the positive support of family, friends, and colleagues is of paramount importance and very, VERY beneficial, not to mention comforting.  Please know my wife and I will be sending you and your dad, especially your dad, our prayers and positive thoughts - white light, as it were!

I know how hard it is to go thru this - my mom had breast cancer twice and it was a day to day moment for us .... i will keep you and your dad and your family in my prayers, i pray it all goes smoothly for him xx

I am so sorry Sam. Be positive and I am sending out energy and well wishes for your Dad and his battle. I wish him fast and speedy recovery and a permenant remission. My Uncle survived stage 3 cancer of the lung (*lost a large portion and needed an portable oxy machine) so I wish Him the best.

Thank you all.  My dad is a very positive, go anywhere, do anything kind of guy.  If anyone can beat this, he's the man for the job.  I'll be visiting this weekend so I'll pass on all your good wishes in person.

 How horrible! My mother was recently diagnosed with a 14 cm relapse growth of ovary cancer, so I can definitely relate. All good thoughts your (and your father's)  way!

Thank you, all.

I won't be visiting my dad this weekend; I have a viral infection and I don't want him to get it.  I have, however, passed on everyone's kind thoughts and good wishes.

He has a CRT scan booked for Wednesday and a meeting with his consultant the following Monday.  Fingers crossed for a favourable prognosis.

I wish you and your father all the strength and luck in the world. I went  through the whole process last year when my mother had bowelcancer.
Lucky enough she has cured, and I hope your father will too. Faith, a positive mind and a lot of support from family and friends helps a lot.
