The only dimensions and that isn't a dimension) I've been able to locate so far is the NEXTEL CUP Garages have spaces for 74 cars.

Oh, one last thing...I don't know how wide the doors are but here is a pic of a car pulled up to the door.... nascar-assets.americaneagle.com/assets/1/Photos/2010 Charlotte Mar test 56 Toyota garage.jpg

For reference, car sizes are as follows:

The NASCAR Monte Carlo measures 200.7 in (5,098 mm) in length, 72.5 in (1,841 mm) wide and 51 in (1,295 mm) high. The wheelbase is 110 in (2,794 mm) and the weight is 3,400 lb (1,542 kg).

Compared with the NASCAR car dimensions, the Ford Fusion is 190.6 in (4,841 mm) long, 72.2 in (1,834 mm) wide and 56.9 in (1,445 mm) high. The wheelbase is 107.4 in (2,728 mm) and the weight is 3,101 lb (1,407 kg).

The Chevy Impala SS is 200.4 in (5,090 mm) long and is 72.9 in (1,852 mm) wide. The height is 58.7 in (1,491 mm) and the weight is 3,711 lb (1,683 kg). The wheelbase is 110.5 in (2,807 mm).

The Dodge Charger is 200.1 in (5,083 mm) long, 74.4 in (1,890 mm) wide and 58.2 in (1,478 mm) high. The wheelbase is 120 in (3,048 mm) and it weighs 3,820 lb (1,733 kg).

The Toyota Camry is 189.2 in (4,806 mm) long, 71.7 in (1,821 mm) wide and 57.9 in (1,471 mm) high. Comparing it to the NASCAR car dimensions, the wheelbase is less at 109.3 in (2,776 mm) and the weight is 3,263 lb (1,480 kg).

Doc reccomends getting your own copy of the 6polybox prop.

Note - You can use Poser's "box" prop but then the polygon count adds up pretty fast.

Ed decided he wanted to build the room full size and not have to mess with rescaling it later on.

What we need to do is make the GROUND Scale 150% so there is 1 foot (DGS) between lines.

Now, we can make our "Floor" prop.

Any questions?

Is there an advantage to constructing the room as a figure in relation to assembling it as a simple prop?

Never mind. It came to me as I was waiting for the post to go through. You can hide a "body part" such as a wall. Useful if you can't get the camera into the room for whatever reason.

We can hide individual walls when the room is assembled as a compound prop (Page 29)

Here we make the *(one sided)* ceiling prop from the Floor prop because they are the same size. All we need to do is duplicate the floor and raise it up into the correct location.

If we want a solid (box) type ceiling ... Here's how to do it.

  1. Load a box
  2. Change xScale to 1680% - (14' wide x 12"/foot = 168" DGS)
  3. Change zScale to 1440% - (12' deep x 12"/foot = 144" DGS)
  4. Change yScale to 10% for 1" thick, 20% for 2" thick, 30% for 3" thick, etc.
  5. Change yTran to 0.960 to raise the ceiling up 96" DGS (8').
  • Note - we don't need to "Reverse Group Normals" for the box.

Questions? ...

I'm all for that. Sorry for disappearing. Sometimes sh*t happens.I'm following along closely and both room and ceiling are doing great. The rain stays out but the breeze blowing in the gaping hole in the wall does indeed leave a bit to be desired. On a scouting mission over to see about double hung windows now.
BTW I like the one sided sq approach for the ceiling. I can see through it at preview when setting a scene but it's always there for reflecting light when rendering.
Room rendered without ceiling of course.
