Thank you, all.
Mark - It's not an option, unfortunately. He has a serious heart condition and his immune system is compromised. The only option would be chemo then surgery. The chemo alone would finish him.

Again, many thanks.
Please, give all the good thoughts and prayers to my dad and stepmom. I don't need 'em but they do.
Just so you know what he's about...
My dad has always been Superman to me. The embodiment of everything that is good in humanity. Strong but never a bully. Self reliant but never selfish. Compassionate and loving but never maudlin. A real man's man, from back before it came to mean a swaggering bully. Never knew him belittle anyone, or take advantage. Always fair, honest and completely straightforward. Never raised a hand to his children, either. A good talking to really worked, because you knew he really, really knew what you'd done, and even why.
Always had an honest and direct answer to a question. He never once talked down to me. He got me involved in everything he did, if I wanted to be. Never kept secrets from me, good or bad, never told me a lie.
He taught me so much about how to conduct myself; always to be fair and honest, to be kind and gentle but strong and to fight when necessary. He's always been the family's protector and guiding hand.
I have seen so many movies where the protagonist idolizes their father. Guess that puts me in the frame, since I could not wish for anyone better. So damn lucky, me.
If I can be to my own son what my father has been to me, I'll have done a good job.

I think its not yet too late. Other people who had tried supplementing themselves with B17 are deemed "terminal". There is nothing wrong to give it a try.
I guess you watch ALL the 6 part videos?

No. I have to be honest and say I didn't. Nothing to lose by giving it a go. I will be sure to point him in this direction (although I'm certain he will be aware of it) and see what happens next.

If he's going to be going through chemo, look into AHCC. (Amazon.com sells it) It's an immune booster that's been said to help chemo patients. It's said to bring the white cell count up faster between chemo sessions. I take it because I take a med that lowers my immune system and I've walked through a house full of flu and either haven't come down with it or had very light symptoms.

No chemo, Kendra. He can't survive it.

I'm sorry Paul :(
What about radiation therapy? It won't be a cure, but it can help debulk (shrink) the tumour?

Truly Sorry to hear about your Dad. In my opinion anyone can father a child but it takes someone special to be known as "Dad". Don't give up hope, but make sure to spend as much quality time as you can together. My own experience with my Grandparents and Mother in law having been taken by cancer and heart conditions, as well as my Dad and older Brother both dealing with strokes about 1 year ago. I hated seeing both Grandparents and mother in law spending most of their remaining time in hospital beds looking as if that was all that was left to them. So even though I live in a different state I decided that my Dad and Brother would get out and enjoy what nature and life has to offer. They both seem to be happier and more content with themselves and others. So our prayers and strength go out to you all.
Dear Samtherapy
I pray for strength for your family. I went through this a few years ago with my dad. Every moment with him is now precious.

my best to you and your dad ... I'll keep the positive energy flowing his way ..
Listen, there are a lot of holistic, herbal type things you can do. Its best to look into this and see what is possible. No links now, but I will check with my wife when she comes home...she knows some about this.
also, I'm sure you know, but some medicinal THC can help a lot.

My dear Paul... I can´t begin to say how sorry I am.. you know me enough to know how important family is to me.. and I know you enough to know how important yours is for you as well.
We know each other for such a long time.. you were my very first friend on Renderosity and the one I had the honor to meet in person and the one who brought so many good things into my life... a friend I can say with all my heart that is one treasure to me... I can also risk to say I have a Superhero friend in you... and Superheros come from Superheroes as well... you dad thaught you well how to think, how to act... how to be. He also passed to you this imense heart you have, and when I say imense... I really mean it, it´s not a figure of speach.. you have this incredible and infinite capacity to love everything and everyone around you that only Heroes have. You are now the example your dad showed you all along... his continuation, his forever life. I know the love and admiration you have for him as much as I can bet my heart on it that he has for you just the same... like mirrors or virtue.
You said "Please, give all the good thoughts and prayers to my dad and stepmom. I don't need 'em but they do."... but you do too dear and you will have them and the love from everyone that had ever met you.
All my love and all my prayers are for your father. your stepmom and YOU Paul. Stay with him all the time you possibly can... breathe him as much as you can.... love ( that you know so wel how to feel and give) is what we keep in the end and all the way through...
I am always here for you . no matter what.. no matter when.. even through the distance I am always with you and yours cause you are family to me.
Please send him a sweet kiss with the same love a daughter would send him.
you are in my prayers...
Ilona
Sorry to hear about this Sam. I know what's it's like to lose a family member to cancer. The person in my family was given 6 months or so but managed to live over a year. So you might see him a little longer, but you can't count on that so spend what time you can with him now while you are still able to.
WARK!

Well, no more news yet.
As they say, no news is good news. Dad is still in good spirits and taking each day as it comes.

My dad went to discuss the results of an MRI scan taken last week, regarding the "7 cm mass" found in his lung.
Bad news. It definitely is cancer. They also found more in his liver. Due to his general health, he's not a suitable candidate for treatment. He's been told he has "months, but more than one" left. He goes for a biopsy later this week to determine the type of cancer. That will give a clearer indication of how long he has left.
He's taking it well but I knew he would. I'll be visiting him Thursday.
Spare a thought for my dad, please.
