Xerxes0002 ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2010 at 1:16 PM

I think the Platinum club discount comes off those prices as well to make it even less expensive.  Personally I would go with the Pro.

AnnieD ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2010 at 1:18 PM

@bobbystahr...I think you can go straight to pro and by-pass the rest....but it does cost more.

Seemed to me like the Pro 7 was an upgrade from 7...am I incorrect in this assumption?

I think thats only if you have 7 and want to go to pro...like if you buy 7 now and change your mind later and go for the pro.

Yeah it shows the upgrade from just for just under 21.00 with the platinum club.

AnnieD ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2010 at 1:33 PM

Bobby....here's what it says on the forum link ...seems they have a free personal edition too...

**Now there is a Personal Learning Edition of Bryce available. That's right, you can get started using Bryce 7 standard without any up-front cost. This new PLE version provides a fully-functional, non-watermarked version of Bryce (MAC or WIN OS) that will NEVER expire.

The only restriction on the PLE version is that you may only use it for personal, non-commercial projects.

**

**Download Bryce 7 PLE right now to see what Bryce has in store for you.

The upgrade from B6 to B7 pro.. plus 25% off => which comes to $29.  not bad at all...

I'm guessing this would be the Platinium Club price...
I think what I'm asking is where in the range of 39 bux to 69 bux do I fall...
Most confusing for someone who has only ever bought 1 Bryce iteration/upgrade and that was with the kind consideration of an anonymous[by their request] member who sent a gift certificate for 6.3 when I was the only Moderator here, and had to have the full whammy to know what folks were talking about.. ...

$29.96 would be your price to upgrade to Bryce 7 from Bryce 6.3 if you are not a PC member.  There is a dropdown on the product page that you need to check to get your price.  If you are a PC member, then it is 30% cheaper.

NO.. Regular price...  put your order B8 pro,,   on the cart and you'll see the final sale...  you can have it waiting for you in the cart until you get ready to buy...

bobbystahr ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2010 at 6:32 PM

Thanks all...added Br6 to 7Pro to my cart and it's on sale for $29.95...guess I gitta find my VISA card...long time since I had an emergency[only time I use the card]. Sorry for my confusion but I've never actually bought anything thru DAZ and it's a confusing path they draw out for a newbie to the DAZ universe.. ...

I did the same thing, I put it in "wishlist"; I mean, who knows...

At least it's not too bad a price either way.  Considering what other landscape software runs.

A further competitor (or a poor man's app) to Vue, I supose; and now we have a PLE!

Wow.

Edit PS: I was particularly sold with the volumetric clouds, even though it's a lot of work getting used to.

If I upgrade to a pro..i pay  44.96
if i buy the pro..I pay  49.98
if i buy 7.. i pay 14. 98
if i upgrade from 7 to pro...  I pay  52.47

not a pc member..

does the pricing make sense???
and which one do i use..pro or just 7??

Long discussion happening at daz,,can someone make sense???

clay ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2010 at 11:53 PM

Standard is the fix on 5 an 6 versions, 15 years worth of most bugs are fixed now, we're still tweaking, Br7 Pro has new features in it that standard does not, you'll see the options in standard but you won't be able to access them. Trust me hon when I say its gonna be worth it Ero.

Standard version will be like your normal Bryce has always been by the way, just not as buggy.

@ erosiaart..

If you have pro 7 means you were a participant in the Beta B7... but do not own B6...
Beta B7 as you know was free..  so they aren't going to let you upgrade from free to B7 pro for $14.98... he he...  wishful thinking...

Thank God for P-Club...lol
If I wait until this weekend when the PC vouchers come out I can get B7 Pro for $15.97.  Upgrade from 6.3 to B7 Pro is $20.97 for PC members.

I've put pro in my shopping basket.. lemme get back from my errands and an interview ..and i'll buy and download it.

Oooh.. bryce 7! rub rub my hands...

bobbystahr ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:12 AM

Well I submitted my order and according to DAZ's profile on me I qualified for 7 Pro for $30.00  Canadian...so I did it.
Question: Should this be considered a brand new program and uninstall the BETA before installing 7 Pro?

For Bryce Pro is DAZ 3........whatever...required? And what would Bryce Pro cost me straight-up NOT being a PC member?

Why does this have to be so confusing?

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:40 AM

Quest..I just bought it..some 48.98.. pro without being a pc member.. and straight out..not an update.

Quest ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:41 AM

And the DAZ 3 issue?

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:42 AM

clay..lol.. i bought it.. had half hour to play around with..
btw.. does it solve one thing?? being able to stop a render in the middle of a render to disc..and continue from where it left off?? my nitemare.. esp when power shuts out here..which is like..ten times a day,,

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:43 AM

I haven't worked that out.. since I won't download it until tonite..when the internet is more stable. I did see comments and links on it in that post in Daz..

Quest ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:48 AM

Attached Link: http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/bryce-7-pro?item=11034&_m=d

On this Bryce Pro link on the side bar it says:

"Required Products
DAZ Studio 3.1.1.73"

Is this a requirement in order to run Bryce Pro and why should it have this dangle (monkey)?

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:53 AM

hmm.. maybe clay can answer that...

rashadcarter ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:58 AM

No, in a sense it is not a requirement. Bryce will run without DS. However, if you do want to use Ds then you need to use the one that they are suggesting.

Also, make sure that after you put in your pro serial number, you close and restart Bryce, as this restart of the program seems to be necessary for the new lights to become active.

I dunno but it's free as well so why not...expands Bryce's ability once you get the hang of it...which I ain't yet...sigh.. always feel a little silly playing with dolls...LOL.. ...

I think they should clarify that in their advertising. Some of us may not use or want DS on our systems. It's like they're shoving it down your throat.

Thank you Rosie and thank you Rashadcarter.

clay ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 3:18 AM

Lemme clarify more, to make sure the D/S bridge from bryce works you need to have the newest version.
