Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 12:50 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
Another glitch was discovered (recently?) in Poser. If one adds a poser prop (or maybe even an imported prop) to a scene, then increases a dimension (or maybe all dimensions) of the prop drastically (perhaps 500% or more), the shadow-map calculations are screwed up. The end result is that props, perhaps even those that were not resized in any way, will either cast no shadows, or they will do so in an unpredictable or unsatisfactory manner.

I have created some large props and noticed that to get a figure to cast a clear shadow, I have to turn off "cast shadows". great! I get a good shadow from the figure but the prop no longer casts shadows on itself ( ie columns on floors etc) Is this a weakness in Poser rendering or is there a way around it.
