Don't know how or why but my PC upgrade from 6.3 to 7 Pro was six bucks!

I’m glad you were able to finally find the plug.

I did indeed, and if you'll just take a seat I'll plug it in the socket

Nope.  The beta versions will time out (in fact, they should have done so on Thursday...have you opened it this weekend?)  If you want to keep on with V.7, you have to pick up one of the newly released versions.

Yup.  I did that a few times with the betas... ran the render past the time-out period.  As long as you don't close, it'll stay active.

Bobby,

You can have the Beta installed as well as Bryce7Pro - you just need to tell the installer to install to a new directory - when it says Bryce will be installed to C://ProgramFiles86/Daz3D/BryceRC2 - the BryceRC2 being the folder I had the last "Release Candidate 2" installed to - all you need to do is to hi-light "BryceRC2" and re-type it to say "Bryce7Pro" and the installer will both create a folder with that name and install to it...

But actually there's not a lot of point in having a run out Beta as well as Bryce7Pro - Me having loads of content - like millions of Materials and a wacking great gloop of Objects in the previous install I therefore let it install over the top of the RC2 - the installer kindly removes the basic content - like "Installed" and "User" "Complex FX" and simply replaces those with the same named content that comes with Bryce7Pro, so if there's new stuff in any of those folders (I think there's a tiny bit in one of them) then the new stuff gets installed.

I'm glad you've been able to come with us in upgrading to the next Bryce Bobby - I look forward to seeing what you produce with it.

Here's the last thing I did with the RC2: "Egg Rain"

Just make sure you save your Presets whenever you can, I try to remember to do so often - and now I just copy the old Presets: Mats, Objects, Skies and Textures to all my Bryces - 7 - 6.3 and 5.5 so I always have access to them all in any version.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but real life is a bit complex just now with Mum in hospital and us over the other side of the country and moving flats on Friday.

If this is a major concern, especially if you're a professional, I would recommend getting a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for your desktop and monitor.  If your power drops, the UPS will switch to battery for a certain period of time.  UPS' also do some degree of line conditioning, I think, to cope with flakey utility power.  How long the battery lasts depends on how much draw your desktop has.  A UPS won't be any good (besides the line conditioning) if your power outages last hours at a time.

I always use American Power Conversion (APC) units.

my two cents,

LH

i just let the beta go and got the pro for 30 which i thought was very reasonable. now if they would do something similar with carrara pro i'd be tickeled pink.
