Hi All, we ask yours advice. We failed in our intention to add some textures to our mask. We tried Steves marvellous UV-mapper. Unfortunately we got this uv-tex which is shown in the little white frame (Same results in using Anthonys mapper). Also dividing the groups and materials in uv-mapper got poor results. So we have no chance to add some textures on the glass for example. Our object was done in Ray Dream Studio. May we have to change the settings for the export of the object in RDS? Trying Poser standard objects (P4male, f.e.) with uv-mapper got good results. Hope you can help us. Regards Matthias and Daniel

You have all the parts overlapping. That's why you have the mess. Select the entire map. Hit: / (This will shrink the entire thing down to 1/4 size.) Now Edit: Select: By Group. Pick a group. Move the group so you can see it better. If the group doesn't look right, WHILE the group is still selected, go to Edit: New UV Map. Try different UV Map styles until you find the one you like. Lather, rinse, repeat. Once you have everything mapped, pick a group then go to Edit: Assign: To Material. Create a useful name for each part. (I.e. glass, nose guard, etc.) Save the model. Save the map. The link above is a great tutorial for UV Mapper. Hope it helps!

Where can you get UV Mapper?

www.uvmapper.com It's free, but someday a professional version will come out as well. The free version will still be available. It's available for the PC and the Mac, but I don't know if the Mac version is as up-to-date as the PC one.

Thank you very much, we solved the problem with your help. The magic word is '..Edit->select->by group...' We changed to a different Map style and now textures aren't a problem anymore. Again, UV-Mapper is very useful and a very well done program! A good tool for creating textures. cheers Daniel
