I didna read all of the above, but if this be the official haggis thread, then scotland is now the proud home of both the deep-fried mars bar and the haggis chocolates (see att lnk).

It's totally untrue that coating something with chocolate will only make it better...lmao.

OOOh,  I love frozen snickers bars. Not good on the teeth, but they are great, and not the ice cream ones either, just throw them in the freezer.

Quote - actually, liver and onions is pretty tasty. the thought of it isn't

my mom used to cook "giblets" all the time.... a bit chewy...but we also ate deer heart, tongue...my dad had "head cheese" made up. yuck a tosis. also blood sausage.
no wonder he died at 61

I LOVE liver. Preferably raw, but it makes the rest of the family kinda gag so I normally fry it lightly on the outside so it'll look cooked.

Hearts: The BEST EVER meat on a pig. Tender, juicy, tasty and filled with iron and other good things (as is liver, the best source of iron you can get!)

Head cheese (bits of pig's head in aspic) is a traditional christmas treat (yes: TREAT!) here, as is blood sausage. Hubby's crazy about both. I like head cheese just fine and if there's enough syrup, I can eat blood sausage. It's not the thought that is putting me off, it's just so sweet and sausage shouldn't be sweet...

The closest I've been to kidney was in a store-bought steak-and-kidney pie and it was a bit dissapointing... My dad loved kidney but my mom didn't like to cook them because she said they smelled like what had been in them L

Brains and eyes.. I haven't had and really don't want to either. Or at least I'd rather NOT know it until after I've eaten it. If something tastes good, who cares WHAT it is? Ever thought about what goes into an ordinary wiener? If you did, I bet you wouldn't eat a hotdog either...

I hope that someday I'll be treated to proper haggis, I've heard so much about it and I'm dying to taste it.

How about escargot (that's snails...) or frog legs? Or mussles? Oyster? (they're even alive when you eat them and they still taste absolutely DIVINE!)

So far, I haven't had REALLY odd things like roasted maggots or candied grasshoppers... but some people find that a delicacy, so perhaps it tastes better than it sounds? It's IMO silly to disregard something just because it sounds odd. I never expected to like oysters when I was invited to an oyster party. But I ended up being the one most eager to gobble them down. If you never try something new, you won't know if you're missing your new Favourite Food :)

Well, I've never eaten cats (that I know of) - they're different. But somehow, I'm not real keen to try them ;o).

Otay, me 5 gallon bucket is full now.  The good news is that I'm ten pounds lighter--oooh got to go again.  Jan

Liver is great if it's cooked properly.  It's also a very good source of iron, being one of the major blood producing organs.  I'd never contemplate it raw.

Cats will most likely taste awful, since they are carnivores.  It's no coincidence that all the animals we usually eat are herbivores by nature.  Besides which, I'd never want to eat a cat.  I love 'em too much.

Hence the reason I'm not really into eating them ;o). Too cute and fuzzy. And they purr. And they keep my lap warm.

My bastards won't sit on my lap.  They just fight each other, shout for food, take up the bed, trip us up and bite us.

They have, however, learned to keep out of little Sam's way.  :)

i would have no problem eating cat meat (if it's not awful) as long as it's not a cat i know.  i don't see one animal as being deserving of going through the whole meat processing experience than another animal.  i have cows too.  i eat steak and stuff.  but i'm sure as hell not gonna eat one of my cows.  ( i like em )

go that way really fast.
