THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: making Bryce Materials or where can I get some?

Where can I get more materials or "Mats" for Bryce 7?

How are these Bryce mats made? Can I make them with Photoshop?

Thanks,

FYI: Wish there was a "Post it" button for these threads, It just is not all that clear on how to post.

There are two types of textures, image and procedural. Image textures can be made in photoshop. Procedurals are made by using equations in the DTE to set up waveforms.

Go to the top header in this forum and click Bryce Backroom. Click on Bryce Links. Scroll down to Bryce Websites and read everything there. That will answer 99% of your questions. Paticulary usefull to you will be DTE tutorial part 1 by Susan Kitchens.

We did a DTE challenge in 2003 the challenge mats are available here. DTE Challenge Mats

Some excellent video tutorials here some of which touch on the DTE and how to use it plus the keypad shortcuts to get into the DTE.

A heads up here re: Tony Lynch's stuff...do not click on the main images as they go to the now defunct 3dcommune...sad to see that resource go...but get the dl's from the left side menu.

One can also just photograph a few resources such as wooden boxes, fences, tables, painted walls, brickwork and use the Image Texture lab to make your own textures from your photographs.I've found that it helps to have a tile making application(doesn't need to be as expensive as Photoshop) there are free ones....

A bit of bump or even the nice new displacement tool in small increments can make an interesting texture.

Darn Bobby,
There's a lot of that going around lately. I was going to mention all the gemstone textures by Darlisa Riggs. Like you say 3D Commune is gone and her site Fignations of Imaginement is moving to a new server. I still have a rice paper and cedar shingles from the old Delphi forums I can't live without.

Yes you can make materials for Bryce with Photoshop, and you can use photographic textures, I've got a tutorial on ShareCG on how to do bricks, here's a link to a couple of rusty metal textures: [ Rusty Metals](http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=57930)

The picture above shows them in use on a corridor model.

I have a few more in FreeStuff (just follow the link in my sig) and I'll be putting some more up on my website soon with the tuts there too hopefully.
