Contrary to false notions, vultures prefer fresh dinner. They don't want an opossum pancake cooked on the road several days any more than we would..well, maybe a tiny bit more than we would.

They like "the very, very, very slowest moving" fresh meal..freshly expired opossum is a delight.

For anyone interested, this is a Turkey Vulture. The other sort we have is a Black Vulture.

Got a funny one? Post it here or let us add a caption.

Something so graceful in this flight. Great photo to see a darker feathers 'creating' a body and a way the wings stretched out.

Thx Tom to share your picture.

Tunde, I like watching vultures like these in flight, even if most are too far to get good feather detail. I have seen vultures sail the sky from horizon to horizon without a single wing beat...that means the air is providing energy and is a good day for flight.  Turkey vultures have better lift than black vultures but both sorts sail with grace and ease.  It would be delightful  to fly like that!

There's a park in my town along the Delaware River where the Turkey vultures hang out.  Here's one catching some rays.
