Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
See..thats what I mean. What do you mean by uses Photoshop for the faces?? :) Do you mean he actually CLONES a face from a photograph, over the poser model? I'm considering attempting this method actually..but when I think about it..if you have a photograph with the character's head on it..then when you are posing your figure in poser..you have to somehow..match the two up..so that when rendered it looks the correct proportions etc. etc. THis of course..limits you in the types of poses you can set your character in.. am I right here? Or did this artist somehow create a texture map of the face that is used in Poser when rendering?
You can open the texture in Photoshop, using layers, you can get a real face to the right size and proportion. This is easier today with the Poser 4 templates since the faces are larger. It takes a bit of work but the results are fantastic. Also, you might want to download a better model like the Mobius Hi Res. Model or Mimi and Nene from the Poser factory. These models have been corrected by some tallented artists and with the right texture, they render beautifully. DavidH is a very tallented artist. His babes are some of the best arround. It took me a while to master the real face texturing trick, but once you get it right, your work will definetelly reflect it. I will post an example in the gallery. Check it out if you get a chance. Boy was this a mistake. Trying to be nice, posted a sample in the gallery and get all kinds of nasty ratings saying it is everyone else's work not mine. Well I'm an artist not a 3D modeler. The posted image was done in about 2 minutes just to show the quality of the better model with a better texture. I use poser for fine art. Just to create the characters. I print in 18 x 24 canvas and add the background and environment with oil paints. I guess some people don't know the meaning of the word "sample". Sorry guys I was just trying to help.
Somewhere there is a tutorial, more or less, that Anton Kiesel wrote about using photos to create factial texture maps. Be sure to see his textures at Prop Guild. His 'tute' may have been written for a specific purpose in the texture forum of the Poser Forum.org if anyone is looking specifically for it. I copied it, but hesitate to post it because it IS Anton's way of doing things and I think he should be the one to post it, not me. I haven't tried it yet, but many on the other forum are playing with it. Also, using PS or PSP or another graphics program for post processing seems to be almost standard, it seems, reading others' posts. I know what WG is saying about looking at others work--after you stick around the forums for awhile you learn that there are lots of ways to improve your work--just takes time and experience LOL (oh, and a bit of talent, I have to add). I think I was one of the first ones to do this. Check the gallery for my pic Girl, Slave and Dragon. The female face is a composit of a B&W scan of my own and the default Poser-4 head. You can check my web site at www.asan.com/users/sailnut. There you can see the prcedure (as I have developed it) evolving. Unfortunetly the procedure I used in the Dragon pic is not always repeatable but, when it works the result is impressive. Christine
Christine, you are adding the faces in post processing in PS aren't you? Within layers, I think maybe. What I was referring to (but maybe the others aren't) is creating 'textures' using photos so that those textures can be applied to any Poser 4 woman in any pose and nothing is done post. Anton's are available from Props Guild and there are others. There is one woman on Poser Forum.org that has 3 absolutely beautiful textures and also Japanese member has several-all, I think, are photorealistic textures done using the Poser templates and photos. Before a recent disc crash I was getting pretty good results by making a head in a 3D modeller (Animation Master) which fitted the photo I wanted to use, then exporting as OBJ and using as a prop in Poser, replacing the standard head. I had to build a UV for the prop using UVMAPPER, re-applied the photo to the UV map and used this as a texture in Poser. You lose the ability to pose the face (unless by morph targets) but at least it looks like somebody real, and not the standard Poser face. When I get my machine back together I'll give it another go.

Hey there folks..I was just at that DH place..and I've seen his art.:) Its excellent in the extreme..but I was still lost as to exactly HOW he created those Real Faces on the models?? Is this some very advanced texture mapping that he did? Anyone have any idea how to accomplish this??
