Subject: Vue locks up with my poser models

boricua57 ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 12:05 PM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 9:20 PM

I am trying to render an image to disk.I have a planet(moon) and a poser model in outerspace with the glow material on it.Problem is,it renders the entire image(it goes through the entire countdown)and at the very end when it says rendering to disk...or something like that,it does nothing else.I hit the CTRL+ALT+DEL and It says "VUE=not responding".It doesnt matter how i save the poser model .PZ .3DS .OBJ it locks up everytime.I also downloaded the patch no help. My system specs. AMD 1.2G 640 RAM (PC133) GEforce3 Visiontek 64mb Can anyone help, thank you so much

It seems there is a bug in the Render To Disk. Several people have mentioned Vue getting to 100% then not getting to the final step. Try the trick Dolly described. You can also try rendering To Screen instead. Not a cure, but a workaround.

Are you sure it has actually stopped rendering? The glow needs to render and anti-alias on it's own, AFTER the picture itself has rendered and anti-aliased itself, since glow isn't actuall a part of the material, but rather an after-effect.

I have had the same problem. It stops rendering.I render to screen that does finish all the way.The same picture I was trying to render to disk took less than an hour to render to screen. I also find I am having a problem importing certain pz3 models. The problem only occurs when there are alot of transparencies involved(the seanymph model from Daz is one that won't import, I have to make it an .obj and add the trans. separatly) Marge

Also - check your windows settings for screensaver and energy saving (such as 'harddrive standby'), especially with very long renders. I noticed Vue works much better when those 'features' are disabled.

Where's the resume render button?

quesswho ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2001 at 12:02 PM

I always have my screensaver and energy saving stuff turned off. The resume render button is under the picture button(for lack of a better word)at the top of the screen. marge Does anyone here use Zonealarm? If you do, have you been getting an abnormally high amount of alerts lately? Could this be part of our problems with Vue?( not just having Zonealarm going off with alerts, but having alot of unknown activity on your computer

Ok, that stage at the very end when it says it's finshed, just needs patience. It takes a lot longer in Vue 4 than it did in Vue 3 for that final writing of the file from the temp directory to the actual place you specified . I've had to wait 20 minutes on a large render for that last bit of writing process. As for ZoneAlarm, I have not had a single alert that has had anything to do with Vue...well not that I know of ;) "Where's the resume render button?"...Picture>Resume Render Cheers http:///www.the3dscene.com
