Hello there!
Is there somebody that has a 3d model of a rat to share? I have a sewer scene I would like to do, but no free rats to be found anywhere...only sites that offer you a free one but you have to buy a download service...

Those are most likely warez sites and I would not advise you to go to those.

Found one beautiful rat model at 3dcool, but the read me was total gibberish, so I can't credit the author...bummer!

@gabe, you're welcome... Be warned, there are a few that are not downloadable thru the site and a few that are blocked from downloading. Also searching mechanism is not operational. So you really need to either have time and patience to search for what you're looking for or smart to let the browser do the the search for you via find function.

Especially when you consider that the one was uploaded in 2000, whereas the TurboSquid one was uploaded in 2008.

Is the model rigged, or just a 'statue'?

After looking at them both, I'd tend to agree with Miss Nancy...I'd also be very careful what you get from there as they claim they do not own the items there, and instead have downloaded them over the years..some of which they don't even remember where they came from.

Well if I could I would LOL...surely somebody around here could do one..what about JTrout? Didn't I see somewhere...yep in freestuff here some textures for a rat that JTrout modeled...maybe someone could sitemail him and ask if the mouse/rat is still available or something...

 I know JTrout's been frequenting the forums of late. In fact, I've talked to him.

Cool, maybe you could point him to this thread in your talks and see if he could help or know where we can get our hands on a low res mouse/rat? Be most appreciated :)

wow! You are right, guys...I can see the 3dcool one  it's the same rat as de espona's in Turbo...The readme I got with it was garbled, where the only understandable sentence was 3dcool.
Did I made an ilegal image then? Will I have to delete it?
As a vendor myself I would hate to see one of my products redistributed like that...

In fact, if you take the image I posted up there of that purple one and blow it up a bit..what I initially thought was a bad reflection beside the rat..its actually a web address on one line and the bottom line actually states DeEspona ;)

So if you have made an image with that rat, I would do the delete thing myself...the image and the file since it has been illegally redistributed. You might send a note to DeEspona and let him know too so he can maybe get something done about his model being given away like that {only he can do it}

You can point him to this thread so he gets the whole bang up story ;)

Oh, and since you got that rat at 3dcool, which is also illegally sharing that model, Id advise you not to get anything there again...it's another one of 'those' places.

Couldn't get contact with de espona in Turbo, no contact adress. I will try to blow the size of the pic you posted and see if I can read it.

Maybe I will re-render the image with a cat...instead.

Or try using the rat that came with Poser if you have the animal content?
