Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 1:20 pm)
ATI has often been noted for a few OpenGL issues but I thought they pretty much worked that out. I do know that and ATI graphics cards don't play well with Vue but I thought they did okay fr poser. When you switched cards did you run a program like driver sweeper to seek out and destroy all traces of the Nvidia drivers? Also is your latest update for your driver from ATI or is it from a windows 7 update?
Quote - Latest Catalyst drivers 10.10.
Tried driver sweeper.
OpenGl works fine as long as I don't go into the Material Room.
Interesting yet....not I will continue to say Poser Pro 2010 has OpenGL issues that were not caught. I don't have an ATI card but experience little issues similar to yours except mine has to do with cameras. Sometimes when Windows 7 has one of their little updates it seems to corrupt some video card drivers. I am sorry I couldn't help more I hope some one can give you answers to clear up an irritating problem.
I have and ATI graphics card and I just downloaded and installed the latestes drivers from their site. There's another thread somewhere dealing with ATI graphics card where I posted a link that will allow you to get the updated driver from the site.
Don't upgrade the driver from Windows 7 go to the actual site and download the graphics suite for your graphics card. That should fix any problems. If you have already done this then I don't know what to tell you. I have Poser Pro 2010 and the upgraded graphic suite that I downloaded and installed from the site solved all of my ATI graphics problems that I know of as it relates to Poser Pro 3020 without the service releases. I have yet to install the SR for Poser Pro.
Not sure if this will fix this issue.. This sounds like an old issue with older ATI Cards and the fix was to edit the Poser ini so
Preview_OGL_BBOXPICKING was set to 1
Contact Support with your details and the results of this so the Project Team can get with ATI to address this issue again.
Thanks

Interesting- I took a look at this on a Win7 x64 AMD system with a Radeon HD3870 and the latest 10.10 drivers and didn't see a problem (Poser Pro 2010 11916, the SR1 version.) Was there anything specific in the scene that you were working on that might cause this problem, or does it happen with even really simple scenes (like the default?)
That certainly makes a difference! Unfortunately since Pro 2010 is out now I wouldn't expect any further Pro updates beyond 7.0.4.220. As ratscloset points out there may be a setting that would help. If you do contact Tech Support they'll probably want to see your Poser.ini file to see what settings it's using.
I have the ATI HD 5770 on Windows-7 64-bit with Poser Pro 2010 - works perfectly. And that card is an absolute screamer for every game I've played - even MS Flight Simulator X set to every possible nutty extreme quality setting runs very fast.
You can't blame ATI for a problem with the old Poser Pro written 3 years ago.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I upgrade my videocard from an Nvidia to ATI and now when I go into the Material Room to change textures there is a terrible lag when selecting materials to edit.
When I change the preview type from OpenGL to SreeD the delay is gone but the screen is very jerky in SreeD.
Anyone know a fix for this?
I'm using the latest drivers.
