Thank you Priska for the well wishes! I agree - it is just a guideline but often we can have such stronger compositions by just following this simple rule!
Christo - three perfect images of the "Rule of Thirds"!!! Well done indeed.
I am looking forward to seeing many, many images this month!

"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."

wild_child - lovely example of the "rule". Wonderful image!
I would probably have probably cropped it down a tad more at the top and left - but that's just me! :):)

Another perfect example of the rule of thirds! Very strong composition!

Blinkings and Priska - welcome to the challenge with great images!
Priska - it isn't the easiest, but once you have this "rule" imbedded in your photography, I bet you you will produce stronger composed images! Go for it!!!

Oh, see on the branches? That is clumps of mistletoe, to hold over the head at Christmastime and New Years to be rewarded with a kiss. I stood under the tree for several minutes..no kiss. Oh well, too far from other people at the time. I will try maybe again on 7 January, the Orthodox calendar Christmas.
Quote - This is a difficult one to fit the "rule". Truly, the sycamore tree is a bit busy and the compositon is not good. Would one of you do it differently?

Tom
It looks fine to me.
Good to see you take part as well my friend.
God Bless.
Christo.
Priska - I like the candles. You could also try them in portrait format!
Tom - I would do you sycamore tree shot exactly the same. The sycamore is basically exactly on the third line. I do not believe you could have done it differently! :) Well done!
I am enjoying this!!! Let me go snap something!

Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.
Also feel free to browse my freebies at ShareCG.
There might be something worth downloading.
"Rule of Thirds" is often one of the first things I think of when composing a shot. (Unless it's some kind of fast action "snap-now!" deal, in which case my composition is more a matter of luck. Of course an old guy fishing doesn't present that kind of problem.)

Pauljs75 - I really like the fisherman at the marina image! Fantastic!
Colene - Excellent examples of rule of thirds in both the zebra and beach images!
Emmecielle - Perfect example too! It looks like a pomegranate!

Now I'm off to ponder the next two shots...
They say a picture is
worth a thousand words...
So where do they go when a photograph leaves you
speechless?
Awww - perfect! The little prickly bit is spot on composed on one of the "hot spots"... Looking forward to see more! :)
