Subject: Mirroring objects/props/cloths????

DarkElegance ( ) posted Fri, 21 January 2011 at 5:11 AM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 3:22 AM

Is there a way(or rather a simply way) to mirror a prop or clothing item in poser 6?

If I remember correctly there seems to be a way to do it in DAZstudio but I do not recall a way in poser 6

(though there may be and I am too daft to know it >.<)

To mirror an object round its left right axis in Poser, you can try this. Set the xScale of the prop to 0.1 and and export it as an obj, with only "Include existing groups..." selected in the export options. Set the xScale back to 100%. Lode the obj you saved into the prop as a morph target, set the morph dial at a value of 2.0. Export the prop as an object again, using the same export option as last time, then import this latest obj into your Poser scene with only "Flip normals" selected in the import options. With a bit of luck this is now your mirrored object. I can't guarantee this will always work, but it has worked for me on a number of occasions. You asked for a "simple" way, and I don't know if you could call this simple, but it does seem to work.

Attached Link: D3D's Content Mirror utility

Although not strictly *in* Poser, there's also Content Mirror by Dimension3D in the marketplace here too, which works on props, clothing, hair etc.

The next version of PropViewer will have it. (I have this in other app for many years)

I'm sure I've mirrored props with a magnet. Make the MagZone huge eg 1000% to avoid distortions. Set X-axis scale to -100% (or was it -200% ?) Will need to export/import object and save as a prop.

Just tried it in Poser 8 but it won't scale below zero despite altering the Min Level settings :(

To mirror an object is very simple, just change the sign of the x or y or z vertices coordinates and then invert the normals of the object.

Thank you all for posting and helping. I really appreciate it. I am going to try the suggestions of changing the x,y and z

again Thank you so much for the advice^.^
