Subject: Newbie Question:

ladylake ( ) posted Mon, 24 January 2011 at 2:48 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 7:22 AM

I have soooo many things in my content on the working screen that it takes forever to scroll it.   So I deleted things (example Christmas things) in the Runtime from the libraries, textures/etc.   But they are STILL in the content on the working screen.  Obviously that was the wrong way to do it but can't figure out how to get these things out.

Help, please.

D|S since version 2.1 has two ways of viewing content:

  1. Folder views, which show the folder structure as it's laid out on the hard drive, and
  2. Category views, which use a database.

Category view lets you rearrange your content in whatever categories you want without changing the folder structure on the disk.  However, to use it you have to do a Search for Content in order to populate the database.  This puts everything it finds in the Unassigned category, from which you can move it around wherever you like.

Category view is the default, so you need click the triangle in the upper right corner of the content tab and either:

  1. Change to a Folder view, or
  2. Search for Content.

Okay, found the search part.  Everything is now in there.  But how do I put the unassigned things into the right place?  For instance I have V3 in there but in the People catagory there is a V4 quickstart.  How do I move the V3 into there?  I tried a drag and drop and that didn't work.

Thanks for the help.

You should be able to just drag and drop.  You can also right-click on an item and choose "Categorize" and then check off the category(ies) you want it in.

Thank you.  I "categoried" everything.  And was able to delete the things I didn't want.   Mission accomplished.  :-)

Thanks again.
