THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Does anyone know who the artist is?

I downloaded these back in 2003 for inspiration, I just stumbled across them while searching an old HD.

Back then this work was stellar, although it's still really impressive, I can pick out most of the brycean modeling etc.

Attached Link: thumb

Found half of it on TinEye, just the bottom though, apparently called "taurean_juggernaut"

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

I too remember at least that impressive bulldozer image, but not the artist's name.

Hello again,

have done some more investigations on my inspiration-image HD followed by some websearch.

That bulldozer was built with Bryce and DTE/terrains even before 1999!

I just found the according R'osity Forum thread. (Whereas the contained url of this tutorial site has expired)
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=116325

The artist's name was "dtx", "dtx_" and currently seems to be "dtxart". I found several hints that these old DTE tutorials were done by a certain Peter Small.
His current site is here, though without that old bryced stuff: http://www.deeptextures.co.uk/portfolio.htm

Great News: Some old "Deeptextures" tutorials and even that of this "Oracian Tractor" are still online here:

Hi,

always am glad to help. :)

(quoted): "I found several hints that these old DTE tutorials were done by a certain Peter Small."
Oops! "Peter Small" seems not to be "dtx"?!

I possibly misinterpreted this on a web snippet about similar DTE tutorials. (Besides, neither his old web pages nor his current site contain any real name?! And data mining for it in UK online phonebooks with his current "company" address would imho only cause additional efforts and possibly lead to paranoia. ;)

Cool, there they are. Sad he didn't do more of those large scale projects. Though I can imagine each of those were a lot of work.

Thanks and Kudos guys!

The name Jonathon Allen seems to ring a bell, but we are talking of a time long, long ago.....

In those days the people who could make Bryce do this kind of stuff were the gods....Jeff Richardson, Peter Sharpe, Bob Buttery, Bill Munns, Necati Pamuk, a certain "Clay Hagebusch"....!

Great times.

My self-build system - Vista 64 on a Kingston 240GB SSD, Asus P5Q Pro MB, Quad 6600 CPU, 8 Gb Geil Black Dragon Ram, CoolerMaster HAF932 full tower chassis, EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti Superclocked 2 Gb, Coolermaster V8 CPU aircooler, Enermax 600W Modular PSU, 240Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD storage, 28" LCD monitor, and more red LEDs than a grown man really needs.....I built it in 2008 and can't afford a new one, yet.....!

My Software - Poser Pro 2012, Photoshop, Bryce 6 and Borderlands......"Catch a  r--i---d-----e-----!"

I think Jonathon Allen made a load of presets for Bryce in the past.
