Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
If you use figures in external applications (Vue springs immediately to mind) then in the name of sweet mercy, turn External Binary Morphs OFF and never turn it back on for anything. It can cause no end of grief for no apparent gain (or not that I've found anyway - I'm open to correction on that bit)

I'm with les on this. Don't use 'em. Very problematic.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I agree with all posters above... just leave 'em off. Hard drives are cheap, even external terrabyte drives. It's like compressing hard drives to save space: too much risk.

I use External Binary Morphs. I did have a couple problems in Poser 7. However, I have not had a problem in Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2010. Originaly, Victoria 4 was not compatible external binary morphs in Poser 7. But, she works great in Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2010.
I found that saving files take longer when External Binary Morphs are turned off. I had one scene that took nearly five minutes to save with it off. But, it took less than twenty seconds with it on.
Poser files with external binary morphs will get massively large very fast. The scene I mentioned earlier had Victoria 4 with a lot of morphs and 5 conforming items(clothes and hair) with a lot of morphs. The file size without external binary morphs was over 800 megs! With it on, the size was only150 megs.
Like was mentioned above, it will need to be off to transfer the file to an external application. Hard drives are low cost option. However, if you like me and use Poser on a laptop, changing hard drives is not a viable option.
Thank you for letting me ramble on.
What is the easiest/best way to create pbmcc and fbmcc blanks in a 3rd party figure to never have to use a PMD ever again?

Is it better to save with external targets, or not?
What's the difference?
