Subject: Creating Pants for Michael 4

GaryChildress ( ) posted Mon, 07 February 2011 at 1:22 AM · edited Sat, 09 November 2024 at 4:52 PM

I'd like to try to create some pants for Michael 4 to go along with the shirt I'm working on. Unfortunately Mike's legs are so close together that my pants are going to overlap in places. Is there a trick to doing pants? Is it OK to overlap? I'm just thinking that when I use PhilC's OBJ2CR2 utility the overlapping pants are going to cause a lot of mix ups in the coordinates.

Thanks.

When making pants for the DAZ figures, try to keep the polygons on the inside of the legs as close to the figures legs as possible. You can always hide the figures legs if they poke through.

It is definitely not OK to overlap. Also make sure that there are polygons running under the crotch area that sperate the left and right leg parts. These polygons will be part of the hip group.

I "block out" the shape then delete one half and make one leg invisible, that lets you get at the awkward bits!  once you have done use symmetry to put the other leg back in

As far as the rig goes, it won't hurt.  The left and right thighs are not directly related in the bone hierarchy (both are children of the hip) so they won't deform each other.  You want to be careful to try to group the OBJ as close to the M4 groups as you possible can though, because both thighs can deform the hip, and sometimes this makes for weird deformation.
