Subject: is there a way to rotate a whole set of lights at once?

CMKook-24601 ( ) posted Thu, 10 February 2011 at 10:27 AM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 3:04 PM

I set up some lights then realized afterward I want them all rotated about 180 degrees is there a way to rotate them all at once?

Parent them all to 1 object or light, then rotate that.

Airport security is a burden we must all shoulder. Do your part, and please grope yourself in advance.

wow, that idea is so simple and ellegant I am ashamed I didn't think of that thank you very much

okay edit I can't parent them with out pointing them at said object and I don't want to do that

note your settings and rotations before parenting. The act of parenting might point them at your object, but they can be pointed away again ;o).

point at and parent are two different things. You can parent them by drag and drop in hierarchy editor or by using the parent buttomn on the properties panel.

This method does not work correctly for infinite lights .

Online Now!

Change an infinite light to a spot or point light, parent it and change it back. Voila, a parented infinite light.

This occurs so often, that I long ago set up my default scene so that it loads with all the lights already parented, & pointed at a dummy prop.   Too handy!

It's so simple, nobody ever thinks of the EASY way to do anything anymore lol

This is one tip i am sure to put in to affect ASAFP.
