Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

shante ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2011 at 10:32 AM

Quote - > Quote - I know I will get slammed for this, but multiple versions are going to kill this figure and just add confusion. Its a fork in the road basically. The one path is constant updates and upgrading (which I have nothing against) Vs the general public wondering what is going on.

No offense, but for a very long time, every DAZ figure has come out with the default version + a lo res version + a blank developement version. These are all "Support" figures. Why on earth would having a Walk Designer version for developing poses for the Official version kill Antonia? It's a support version. Many figures have come with support versions in the past and have been more than successful. In fact, I'd venture to say that any figure that hasn't come with support and development versions has had piss poor support.

I may not have any memory but didn't (doesn't) Posette (P4 Nude Woman) have multiple versions for her too? EVE and all the others that were modified to work with better more advnced mapping and updated mesh for genital details etc.?

I know I was confused by all that. Just when I thought I finally got a hot Posette I had to find something els to either make her work or try one of the other versions.

The developers got through this problem and variations of Posette are still out there being used. People got used to wading through the variations of her to get what they needed and she managed to please a lot of users in the community for a long time. Of coure she was an industry standard with mucho support both in private and corporate sector but users got the idea. If you recll she had suh a large following until very recently her fans had a big site dedicated to her: POSETTE FOREVER

I am sure it will eventually work with Antonia......if you get the following now.

As a dunderhead, what I think would make it easier for me would be this:

A permanent DL site with:

Antonia 1.0.0 or whatever updated variation developed with a clear statement this version it is for regular posing and rendering ONLY.

For use of anoni in: Whatever app or function DL one of these:

Antonia-WW

Antonia Mimic

Antonia-PuppetMaster

Atonia-Walk Designer

Etc.

Forget the numbers or if you want to include numbers to mark version updates proceed it with the word "UPDATE" and a note to read the Readme for explanation of use.

That way if I don't give a hullablloo about WW or WD or whatever she is going to be used for I can just step over it, under it or around t to the newest version of the dolly I want to play with.

Simple enough a third grader can figure it out....I think!  :o)

I could go ahead and upload NanaMae as is, she works on both versions of 1.0 and if anyone finds she needs tweaking, they can do so freely. :)

Would that work?

I thought you said in an earlier post she doesn't work with the current version of Antonia?

If that is the case what kind of tweaking will be required? Afterall some of us may not be as proficient at doing that.  :(

Oh never mind dear I failed to note a more recent post from you.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2011 at 11:29 AM

@shante:I edited my INJ files and she works fine for me with both versions.

What I meant was that, not having her tested by anyone else, there may be some little thing that needs adjusting.

So if anything is found maybe someone with better morphing skills could feel free to tweak it if they want.

All the morph work I did on her was in Poser 7 with the putty tool. :)

BTW:She now has a separate head morph, a separate body morph and both together as a full body morph.

I know some folks may like just the head morph and want to do a body on their own, or like the body but not the head, while others may want one click to do it all. lol.

Well, I gave Antonia-WW the code name 'Rose' right to the bottom of the runtime as soon as I downloaded it, to ensure I would not get errors due to Poser taking the wrong geometry file or me trying to use the wrong poses or add-ons. Left out the texture files as they are identical and can be used by both versions.

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2011 at 12:01 PM

I don't care what you call me. Just don't call me late for dinner. ;)

Antonia developement for end users has always been confusing. I downloaded her several times, and each time I did, another update was released, so I never bothered to install the earlier versions. Finally I gave up, just awaiting the final release.

I snagged her, and of course there was another update.. LOL! WW support though IMHO was a major feature update, as was adding the needed injection channels. (Both are sort of basic features kind of really needed for a successful figure release.

That said, personally, I'd like to bury 1.0 in a landfill somewhere with the old atari ET cartridges, if nothing else to bury confusion, and to give ODF a well deserved rest. Get antoniaWW out there, and run for the HILLS!

Its so frustrating after a long developement period to think you are done with something, and then have to go back in work on it again, just days later.

I feel your pain!

Kick out antonia ww (however the hell she is named) and let's pop the corks and celebrate!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

I have rendered the ears from many angles, moved the head around, applied open mouth morphs. But I have yet to see a problem with Antonia or Antonia A, in poser po 2010. Care to explain more?

paganeagle2001 ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2011 at 4:05 PM

Tried on Antonia and AntoniaA.

Load up AntoniaA

Use Elf ear INJ option.

Select Head, none of the 7 ears options as mentioned in the read me.

Got the:-

Nod, Turn, Tilt options.

Scale options.

Utils:-  Brown gone, HeadGrow options

Expressions there, but.......

It renames the mouth open option to elfears1.

Use the elfears1 option and it just opens her mouth.

All the best.

Back again and of course you where busy.

As for the naming: Whatever you decide, odf, is good enough for us LOL But as you already wrote that 2.0 is not your favorite I can say that I am glad about it. Somehoe 2.0 really sounds like a major upgrade or, worse, as a sidegrade.

I've got mail from PhilC and will now go and test WW2 and some clothes.

I have a question: Is anyone else here trying out the WW2 plugin for Antonia? If so I have a qustion or, in other words, would like to know if only I am too clumsy to get panties (bikini, underwear) to fit Antonia (when posed) or if this is a general problem. So far I can't even inflate the pants enough to not have pokethroughs or, if the thigh is bended, I have a distorted buttock.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Seeing how much trouble amy_aimei went through to get this kind of garment fitted to Antonia, I'd wager a guess that it's a general problem, due to Antonia's JCM-heavy setup. But I don't know anything about WW2 and what it does with JCMs, so I may be wrong.

Thanks! I found that all my clothes are for Vickies, and I do not have the necessary WW2 extensions. Since Antonia will have WW support, I'll probably buy those at some point, but for now, I can't test. So if you shared your findings, that would be useful.

You need to be very careful to use the correct Antonia for this. You need to see a waist actor, and the figure name has to be "Antonia" (without any number appended).

ETA: I wonder if we should do this by email, or at least in a different thread.

Umm.  Are we using "pants" in the American sense, or the British sense?  'Cause it may make some difference.

Here's Antonia in the A3IDOL ensemble, which I guess was meant for Aiko 3?  The conversions are coming out well on the higher-resolution clothes I've tried.  Obviously here the JPs on the shoes will need some tweaking, and the undies (at least) need to have the JCMs activated.  But the out-of-the-box results are good!  :thumbupboth:

the british use "pants" as the thing they wear under their "trousers".  rumour has it they also were the inventors of the "7-day pants" - a very economical and labour saving idea, one might add.  oops =  crosspost w/odf.     in resp. to following posts, one can only say there's usually nothing beneath the underpants that one can discuss in polite company.

however, i should try this antonia obj file in c7pro - it appears the zero cr2 pose has non-zero bend at elbow.

One more.  Some Studio Maya stuff.  I've activated the JCMs on the shorts here, but there's still a bit of poke-through at the sides.

The clothing is not coming out with the Hip cut as it is on Antonia.  The shorts here could just be the Hip actor, as that's all they cover, but they're cut into Hip and Thighs, like more standard figures.  I'm not sure whether that's affecting anything, positively or negatively.  Just an observation.

I'm running out of clothes to test, rather quickly.

Wardrobe wizard, as far as I remember, will deal with the differences in scale, position and geometry, carry over the rigging, and can carry over morphs from the original item. It will not create the JCM's of the target figure in the converted clothing.

Antonia uses JCM's quite a lot, typically in a Z-type transition curve generated by a linear relationship with output values limited between 0.0 and 1.0. The thigh-bend JCM is zero for aft bending of the thigh, then linear up to output value 1.0 at 60 degrees forward, and then constant 1.0 for the rest of the movement.

If the clothing does not have the JCM's poke-trough will occur of course only if the JCM is an outward deformation. The thigh-bend JCM for example on close-fitting pants will cause poke-trough on the fore side of the hip and thigh only, because that is where the JCM has a deformation working outwards. On the aft side the JCM models the flattening of the gluteus, and there will be no poke-trough, but the bending will be as ugly as we know from existing models, or even more because Antonia's joint parameters were designed to work with the JCM. A tight pant will hang wide if the thigh is bent.

Guess the solution for converted clothing would be a set of JCM controlled magnets miming the JCM; something similar to the 'magnetize' poses that come with the CP's G2 figures and with Victoria4. For a real conversions of the clothing, fit for general use, there is no alternative but to develop the JCM's manually. This also provides the possibility to fix unrealistic stretch.

Quote - Antonia's joint parameters were designed to work with the JCM.

Just a remark: that is a plausible, but incorrect assumption.

The joint parameters were optimised for the figure before JCMs were even considered an option. I think that's probably a good thing, because there's a certain limit to what JCMs can fix.

WW is creating the JCMs, actually, but so far I haven't been able to get it to activate the slaving ERC in the BODY actor.  I'm having to edit the .cr2 to fix that.  I think we may be able to insert the ERC with a pose, if WW can't do it.  PhilC tells me WW can do it, so I'll read up on WW settings a bit.

I think Morphing Clothes may work well for converting the JCMs, in cases where the WW process doesn't cover things fully, but I haven't tried that with any WW-converted clothing.  I've used MC with other Antonia garments (including Amy_Amei's bikini), however, and had it work well.

I've realized that I can test using the P6-P8 clothing.  I'll try some of that tomorrow.

So far, most results are looking pretty good.  :thumbupboth:

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

P6-P8 clothing? Where the hell is that? My runtimes are a mystery.
