Cage, you asked if the script works for me - unfortunatly I encounter the same problem that odf has. Sorry, I should have mentioned it yesterday but got sitetracked by trying out turning conformers into dynamic props...

What I do is the following: I convert the clothes with morph (jcm) insertion, then load and conform the cltohing item, run your script with the clothing choosed in Poser and pose Antonia. But somehow I have to dial in the jcm's by hand. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Well, the pose is definitely working for me, here.  I have no idea what's happening.  😊  It sounds like you're doing exactly what I'm doing.

You and odf have both called it a "script", though.  😕  Just to clarify, it is an injection pose, which should plug in the ERC for the figure.  I can't imagine that Python would let anyone try to run the file as a script without generating an error, so I assume you're both loading it as a pose, but still no luck.  :sad:

Are you using Poser Pro 2010, perhaps?  All I can think of is that a Poser version difference could have rendered the process ineffective.  But that seems unlikely, too.

LOL Awwww, poor Cage, I didn't want to cause a crisis. So yes, I use PoserPro 2010 for testing. And you are right, this is an injection pose - I tend to call everything you Gurus create a script (maybe because it does magic 😉). Of course this MAY be a version conflict but on the other hand this would be the first I ever had. Even the oldest content still works in the most recent version...

By the way: I have some clothes here where I am not sure if they are for V2 or V3 (freebies - and I lost the installer...). Is there a neat trick to find out for what figure they are made?

I've had the same problem with some freebies I've tried, usually items for Aiko or Mayadoll.  :lol:

All I can think of would be loading V2 and V3 into Poser along with the clothing, to see which one it fits by default.  They don't have the same base pose, IIRC.  A few times I've had to hunt down the original zip files, to check the readme files (which aren't always helpful, either :unsure:).

 

Back on the insertion pose: A Poser version conflict does seem unlikely.  Do you have the garment selected, when you load the pose?  That's the only other thing I can think of.

Edit: No, I see that you have the clothing selected when loading the pose.  Dang.  :sad:  I guess it doesn't really work, and it's a fluke that it's working for me.  Poser == Gremlins!

Ahhh... we are coming closer to the problem. That the file works for you but not for us may be caused by something it needs and that we do not have (or that we have but in a different location). I know this from my commercial products when I leave a bumpmap from an older figure or such in a product and when we test it on a blank system it cries "I can't!!". Hmmm... really Gremlins? Or Nargles?

Urban dictionary tells me that Nargles only attack "on the new moon in August, July, or February."  So I guess Nargles could be in season, but I don't know when there's that new moon.  :unsure:

Do you have a .cr2 editor?  I'm wondering what dial naming WW is applying in your files.  😕

You need to find a unique number that is going to be the same in the figure and the conformer. I think the 'origin' for the BODY is a good candidate.

origin 0 0.442 0.006  Victoria 2
origin 0 0.454 0.002  Victoria 3 SAE
origin 0 0.464 0.006 Victoria 4.2

You will usually find this number just a few lines above the start of the hip actor, but sometimes other stuff like a "CenterOfMass" or material settings are in the way. Inspect the cr2 in a cr2 editor or a text editor, don't rely on the Jount Editor, it can give faulce readings.

I think I see the nature of the problem, though I can't give you exact details on every aspect. Your slaving code is like this:

            valueOpDeltaAdd
            Figure
            rThigh
            zrot

That would be fine if it were witten directly into the cr2, before the figure was loaded into a scene. It has no specific figure number ":#", and that is how you want it. On the other hand if you apply this to the conformer as a pose before it is conformed, the code block will just adopt the same figure number as the conformer, and that's bad!

Now what will happen if the pose is applied to the conformer, after it is conformed? I don't know the answer. It may depend on a lot of factors, like what is the figure number in the character, what is the figure number in the conformer, are there any other figure in the scene, is there already slaving code in the BODY JCM channels of the conformer, etc.

I did do one test with the "ERC_slaving_insert.pz2", applying it after conforming. On inspecting the pz3 in a cr2 editor, I saw rather bizarre results. Some of the channels had slaved correctly to the character, some had slaved incorrectly to the conformer, and "valueParm JCM-TongueOut" seems to have slaved to almost every JCM in the conformer, including xrot in lFoot:2!

In any event this (or any) pose will not turn the conformer into a true super-conformer. The only way to do that is to put the code into the cr2, before it is loaded as a figure in Poser. That is more trouble, but you only have to do it once, then that cr2 is always a super conformer. With a pose, you would have to apply the pose every time you loaded the conformer from the Figures (or Props) palette.

Cage,

Even though it is desirable to have the slaving code written into the cr2, for the final distribution version, I can see where getting the slaving to work via a pose could be handy for testing purposes.

If you save a super-conformer from a Poser scene back to a palette, the super conforming will be broken in that cr2. But you might have tweaked something in Poser, and need to save back to the palette.

Poser always respects the figure number written into slaving code in a pz2. And that is why we need to delete the figure number from slaving in a delta injection.

In this case the fact that Poser will respect the figure number may help us. If you rewrite the slaving in your pose like this:

            valueOpDeltaAdd
            Figure 1
            rThigh:1
            zrot

Now if we make sure Antonia is the first and only figure loaded into the scene, she will be using the figure number ":1". Now we load the conformer, and as the second figure, that will be using the figure number ":2". Now we can apply the pose to the conformer, before it is conformed, and it should respect the figure number in the pose, slaving to the figure using ":1", and in this special case, that will be Antonia.

This would be no good for a distributed super-conformer, because the user may have several figures in the scene, and not want the conformer to conform to the first figure loaded. But for a more restricted test environment this may not matter.

Sorry to butt in - this seemed like the best place to mention that I hacked together a QuickDress for Antonia. A QuickerThanUsualDress, if you like. :)

It will hopefully be improved as I have the time. It's tight around the legs (although that might be just what you wanted!), and the MonoBust morph could use improvement , but I'm making this available now so that anyone who wants to make skirts or dresses for Antonia, but lacks the modelling expertise to start from scratch, can get started. At the worst, it may take a little more modelling time to achieve your goal.

Maybe it's a NotSoQuickDress, in that case. :lol:

Oh certainly - I haven't done it yet:

a) Because it's more difficult (I made the QD in about half an hour using the cloth room, hence the stretching)

b) Because I didn't need one myself yet, and

c) Because if I procrastinate long enough, there may be Wardrobe Wizard support which will make things a lot easier.

Evidently I'm not quite sure what a superconformer is.  :lol:  I thought it was just a garment on which the ERC is linked to that on the conforming parent.

It sounds like the real mystery is why this pose consistently works for me.  😕  I haven't run it with multiple Antonia base figures in a scene, but it has worked with multiple conformers in the scene.  The figure number of the Antonia base has varied.  Sometimes I've had other figures in the scene and deleted them without creating a new document.  But the Antonia base in the scene has always been the first figure loaded, of those which are still in the scene.  I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

It's a good thing odf is working on a script for this.  :laugh:

Cage, this seems indeed to be one of these crazy mysteries I've ran into as well - many times and in most cases I never found out the reason. In fact: If I am not able to blame it to OpenGL I hardly ever find what went wrong or why something works on my computer and not on Leo's... But, and this may comfort you: The clothes above where made by converting them with the necessary jcm's in them, thensome inflating here, some jcm there et voilà: My first Antonia, almost nekkid with a, well, a staff 😉 This converting thing starts to be a big fun as more as I dig out old favorites amongst my clothes.

Well that's almost how I would define a super-conformer. However my definition of a "true" super-conformer, would include that it can super-conform to any appropriate figure in the scene, without the need to apply a pose file.

I should add that the test I did, with the bizarre results, was just to conform one instance of Antonia to another, then apply your pose. I did not run a control to see what happened without applying your pose. I note that Antonia-1.0.0 uses "Figure" in the BODY JCM channels, where you would normally expect to see "Figure 1". I don't know if that has any affect on the way things turn out.

This is the Toni Polygon texture I've made, the one that is available for free. Displacement is not used with it's material settings but bump. It may be the light that causes the pretty "slick" look but most of all this is far too small and too far away as that you can see any pores or imperfections. Even the original (2500 pixels width) does not show such details. To see the bump I would have to set up a close-up portrait or such (or use overly hard settings for the bump). If desired I could use higher settings for the bump effect but, honestly - that's something I do not like a lot. In fact real humans try their best (usually) to have a smooth, well kept and even skin - so I feel a bit pity for some 3d-characters that look as if they badly need some body-lotion and skin care.

 

As said: It's a question of taste 😉

I've got a script, but it's in in Scala. Maybe it's time to dig out and update the Python version of my Poser file manipulation library again.

I have been experimenting with some prop hair for Antonia. Gloria Short Hair works with the S3 morph at .6 to .7 with a small negative z offset. Radient jaguar universal prop hair looks very nice at S3 = .5 yscale = 97 and zpos = -.004. So if you have h2 hair with an S3 fitting morph, try it at about .6 to start, move it back a bit with the zpos dial and touch up with the scaling dials.

I have also been trying some magnet fits on shoes. I got a quite nice fit on LF Pearl Sandals from the LF store at Renderotica. These are platform hard sole shoes with a strap over the toes. Similarly styled shoes should be quie easy to do. I haven't tried more complex styles. My guess is they would need three magnets per shoe. One to position and rotate the entire shoe and one each at the heel end and toe end.

Hey guys I started this with the intent to provide it as a free resource base when Antonia 1.0 was released but I don't really have time at the moment to work on it.

Needs a little tweaking and some loops added to simplify breaking the mesh up for various clothing items and joint deformations.

Currently 700 polys, one material, no UV mapping or groups.

Does anybody want the OBJ as is?

The way to tell a polygon from a parakeet is that the parakeet squawks more loudly when you try to weld its vertices. :lol:

I'll have my people talk to your people. As I said in PM, I had put Flo Hair for Antonia on my to-do list only this afternoon, so the opportunity to sit back and watch someone else do all the hard work is too tempting to resist. :lol:

I'm going to be busy most of the weekend - visiting a prospective university with my son tomorrow, at a recording session on Sunday - so I won't get a lot of time to work on 3D matters. I'll try to get the QuickSuit up as soon as possible. Realistically, it will probably be some time next week.

@3Dream: thanks for the face, she looks lovely. I notice you've used the PBMCC_00 channel for your face morph, which is already in use by another Antonia character I have (May). I'll have to do some editing if I want to load them both together - I like mixing morphs to get my own unique blend. :)

There must be a better way of assigning morph channels? Or is there?

@bob1965: If Englishbob needs more time, why not temporarily put it on Antonia's Freesite?

@3Dream:that is a beautiful face morph. :)

@everybody: I think I will go ahead tonight (when my real life stuff is done) and put Nana Mae on the freesite. :)

Because it needs to be more finished for the general Poser user and I wouldn't want to confuse the poor little dears by giving them too many options?
