Hello All

Small problem in cloth room , almost made this Robe that Rooster designed fit to my new G2 Male Figure but it sort of has a problem!!

Any ideas?:0)

SteveJax ( ) posted Wed, 02 March 2011 at 10:15 AM

You must have had the cloth intersecting the arms before running the simulation.

the hands are intersecting at the tip of the sleeves just a bit. At frame one, move his arms back a little bit, and uncheck "Start draping from pose zero" in the cloth room options, and se eif that helps any.

Hi Rooster

Does this Robe come in (conform to G2 Kelvin? ) I do not know the technical problems but it sure would help me with the animation I am working on if it did.

well the problem is I do not own Kelvin, so I not know what dimensions to make the robe. But if there's no poke thru at frame 1, then the simulation should work fine.

I am just off to learn a new programme its called (shoot your self) it is less painfull than Poser!

Kelvin is a G2 figure , no better idea !!  just give up , yes its simple . Just give up all this and be happy.

This might give you an idea of KevinG2 & Micheal and looking at it I cannot see why I just cannot get the robe to fit.

Just a quick question. Have you made sure to uncheck "ignore hand collisions" in the simulation? That can cause results like you shown if the garment has long sleeves.

Hi Grappo

Nice to see you , I will have a look at this asap.

Must admit I chickened out at the moment and looked into my Library and found a G2 robe for a shepherd , the neck is not correct but I might put a t shirt underneath!

Slowly getting there though.

You know what Saibab, I wasn't being a smart aleck when I posted that image. It has perfectly practical information in it for fixing your issue in the cloth room. I don't HAVE the original robe but if I did I could make it work on Kelvin in about 2 minutes just by properly posing Kelvin's arms and scalling the robe appropriately.

Since dynamic clothing is a prop, you can parent it to any figure, usually to the hip.  If the cothing item is supposed to fit close to the figure you can always use the shrink and grow method.  It also works for figures that are larger than the clothing was modelled for.

OPPS sorry I thought you were being your Avatar , Mr Bean.

2 Min !! Well just shows what an amateur I am , I spent nearly an hour and still could not make the Robe work for me.

Back to the flying saucers then. MR Bean

I will keep this on my wall icprncss2

thanks all

No, I was actually showing you (With Instructions on how to fix it in the word bubble) with the picture. That's why I said to click on it. You can't really read the word bubble in the forum. Where did you get that robe?

If you're talking about the original robe he used, it's mine in the freebies.

Edit: If you do happen to make a version for his character, or any others for that matter, feel free to distribute them with textures, etc...    :o)

I just used the version you had on Poser 6 James with Hindsight's Massive Morphs and Aprilysh's Caleb hair. The G2 males were all based on Poser 6 James so it should work on them as well. All I had to do was tweak his arm pose at the start frame and twist his wrists a tad and scale the robe up to 110% on the z axis and shrink it back down at the end of the simulation and here's my result. The robe doesn't drape very well though. I'm going to assume it's because of the quads. I'm going to retry this on the one I converted to Tri's in Zbrush and see if it drapes better.

Yeah we were having a discussion on which is better for clothes a while back. I actually thought I put the tri'd one in the package there cuz yeah, tri's are better for cloth.

Well I used the "With Pocket" version. I didn't check the other one, maybe that was the one you did with Tris. Any who, Poser doesn't like the pocket version one that Zbrush converted to tris. It just crashes.  It's been a long day for me though so I'm done with it for now.
