Subject: Anyone Else Had Problems With Clipping Planes?

Jonj1611 ( ) posted Wed, 02 March 2011 at 8:33 PM · edited Thu, 03 October 2024 at 2:24 PM

Hi,

Ok, procedural terrain, stretch vertically and then clipped at the top, looks fine in the preview, when I go to render, what happens in the picture shows up. Any ideas? I can't find anything apart from the terrain is clipped.

Cheers

Jon

It looks like you may have missed erasing tiny bits on the edge of the terrain.  Zoom in very close  and check

Yeah thats the thing Gill, the terrain is clipped, so I assume its impossible to have bits on the edge? Here is a screenshot of the clipping :-

Oh clipped!  Sorry, was a bit fuzzy this morning

I don't often clip the top of terrains but I just tried it out with 3 different ones all procedural and didn't get that

This is really odd, because there is no eco system as such, the trees are just painted on and the ground mat is a texture. Might have to send this one to e-on then, because I cant for the life of me work it out

Have you tried it without the material or trees?   I know it shouldn't make any difference....but you know Vue ;-)

A support ticket sounds like a good idea - although I've found that if they're not able to replocate a fault they say it can't be fixed.

If it's a small file, you could email it to me and I'll checkit on my system for you ??

Hi Gill,

Yes, same problem with no materials, so can send you the file, will save it without mats so its smaller, could you PM me your email address please and thank you :)

OK tested and I get similar results. I loaded the scene and hit render without making any alterations.

After I'd rendered, I went into the terrain editor and unclicked the 'zero edged' icon.  What rendered from that looked very similar to the shapes appearing in the first render, but more solid obviously.

Best thing is to raise a support ticket and attach the saved Vue file for them 😄

OK Gill,

Thank you for confirming the problem.

Will get onto E-on now, thanks again :)
