Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 13 3:49 pm)
Hey SAMS3D!
My Runtime is 39 Gigs. But yesterday Evening i experienced the following:
Well,yes: Hitting "OK"...let Poser 8 freeze, but:
Hitting the "ENTER-Key" with my Finger instead of the "OK-Button" with the Mouse WORKS!!!
Straaange!
I uninstalled Poser 8, I installed SR 3.0.... still the same Effect.
Today i will try to install the latest NVIDIA-Driver (I am running XP SP3 with a Gforce 9500GT, Driverversion 258.96), cause i recogniced that its up to Version 266.58.
Yes...Disapointment is in da House!!! I am really not old fashioned...but i like the old UI more! SURE: 8 has great new Features!!!!Thats the Reason why i bought it in the end...but this Problem here really sucks, and the Library-Thumbnails are much to small. OK...they get bigger when you click on them...but the old Library-Browser for me was more usable.
Back to Topic!
Thank you all for coming here and help. Greetz from Germany,
Cosmo
The library thumbnails can be any size you want. And there is a tile-list that you can enable in addition to the tree or instead of the tree, making it closer in style to the old library. And the thumbnail sizes on that are adjustable as well. There are actually quite a few options to customize the library. Apparently you did not have SR3 installed, and/or you never looked in the manual.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Perhaps i am too simple-minded, but this actually sounds like you are actually missing the ok-button when you try to click with your mouse on it. The OK-button has this pseudo-3d look and gives you visual feedback when you
a - press the mouse button
b - release the mouse button again (at this time it considers itself to be clicked).
On my system i experienced that the exact location required to click on, is not the whole area of the button, but only approximately the lower half. Perhaps it is the same for you.
I too uninstalled and reinstalled and had the latest service release and the latest drivers.
Then, when I got Poser Pro 2010 I thought my problems would be over. But it happened a couple of times with PP2010 as well although not as frequently as before. With Poser 8 I would end up saving after every single thing I did, it was ridiculous.
Conflicting installations of Flash Player cause this and Smith Micro was not aware and kept insisting it was our drivers. You're not the only one with this problem. Do yourself a favour and uninstall Flash Player and reinstall only from their site.
Hey W . O . W !
Sooo much cool, clear and teaching Answers.... BIG, BIG Thank you!
I never thought to get this Result in "Getting a bit wiser".
1st @ Bagginsbill: =o( ... you got it: I am not the biggest Manual-Fan. And you`re completly right: If i would read a bit more... i would see that there are Solutions right on my Harddrive.
I will follow your Advice and read BEFORE asking HERE!
@ Millighost: Thats my bad english! I sure HAVE an OK-Button... i just meant that there is also the Option to hit ENTER than always clicking an OK-Button.
@ SteveJax: THANKS for doing a screenshot for me!!!! I must admit... i forgot to write that i own P8 just a week.
Main Frustration was the UI.... I really loved the old one... but Dad is also a Posermaniac, and...te one with the money. =o)
Now that P8 is in the House... a lot of new Problems are TOO. That line leads to KALYPSO:
Its a bit soothing to read... that i am not the only one with Probs.Well YES: I allready was at ADOBEs Page and got myself the latest Flashplayer. We`ll see if THAT makes things a bit smoother....
and @ raven: THIS is what i call a TIP!!!! I`ll check it out tomorrow... cause in germany now its 11:30 PM... and tomorrow i have to get up early! =o(
Thanx again to ya all!Cosmo
If you are using Adobe Flash installer (or the Flash Installer that comes with Poser) only one Flash Player should be installed.
Adobe Creative Suite and various Adobe products will also install the latest Flash Player, but it also installs to the default location. If you have two versions of Flash installed, that is a System corruption or a corrupted install. Not sure of the cause. Adobe said it should not happen. If you have two versions, you should also notice issues when checking out various sites that use Flash.
The most common cause for the Freeze on delete figure or other screens is an out dated Driver. That is the first step. Runtime size, etc... should not be a factor.
If you still have issues contact Support.

Quote - I fought with the same issue for MONTHS with the the Poser Techs - my final solution - I dont run any browsers when Poser is running. I did have a browser open once, and sure enough Poser hung right up again.
You may want to check for two versions of Flash.. I can not recall where the other one was located, maybe the previous poster can respond with that detail. I run Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2010 with Browsers (sometimes two different Browsers) with no issue.

yep, I did that early one in the process, though I don't even remember how now. My personal suspisions were always at some sort of Flash conflict was going on, but I'm no expert.
I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.
I recently started having this problem also. After updating drivers, re-installing Poser among other things I found out it only happens if Google Chrome is running. I don't need to restart Poser when it freezes, it's enough to quit Google Chrome and Poser resumes.

Well, hello!
It sound weird, i know, but: Its serious.
Best Example...to describe it:
I have a Character loaded, and want to delete it.
I click "Delete"
Then it asks if i really want to
Then i click "OK".... and nothing happens! The Window stays there until i have to manually quit Poser 8.
But its not only with deleting something!!! I bought Miki 3.... and Poser 8 says:"The file is newer than expected, Poser trys to load it anyway!".
So... i have to click again an OK-Button... and again: It HANGS!
Whenever i have to click an "OK"... it hangs!
Has somebody an Idea why this is so? And... a Solution?
Many many thanks,
Cosmo
