Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

Quote - @SteveJax: Do you know how long this offer and the coupon are valid? At the moment I see few things there I would need. I can't close the doors of the lockers of all Victorias and don't use Michael very often (and if so I need few clothes cough). There's only few Miki 3 stuff at the moment (beside textures - that I do not need as I prefer procedural materials) and so I would prefer to wait and fill Antonia's little box with clothes before I buy a membership.

As I qouted, the offer is only available for 5 more days but once you buy it you have 3 months to download til your hearts content. Offer ends at Midnight somewhere on the 14th.

Quote - Someone posted something about a special package offer of V3 textures, a few pages back, but there were no specifics.  A new month, more money, and Cage is now interested in that possibility.   Can anyone explain what that's all about?  (I guess using site mail, if posting publicly would violate some kind of 'Rosity restriction. )

Actually we ARE allowed to post commercial posts in existing threads. We just can't create new Advertising only threads which is why nobody has deleted my Poserworld posts in this and one other thread but the Poswerworld Membership thread I started did get deleted.

Site says until the 14th. If that is US time, we in EU will have a bit longer.

I've pretty much finished up my head morphs for Antonia, but I need someone to check that everything is working okay before I distribute them. I have a lot of dependent parameters (neck, eyes and teeth moving with morphs) that I would like someone else to check, and also to check that the cr2 is easy to use (it references odf's Antonia-1.2 cr2).

PM me if you can take some time to do a quick check.

Attached image is of the full face morph included that is inspired by a certain actress.

Just so you know: I've enabled ads on Antonia's site as an experiment. Don't feel obligated to click them (unless of course you really want to). I'm not expecting anything significant to come out of this, and clicking ads is certainly not a good way to support a project.

However, in my perpetual quest for the grail - a.k.a. getting paid for things I enjoy doing and thus having to do things I don't less - I am wondering whether I should add a donation button, as well. Any thoughts, comments, first hand experiences?

I approve of your grail, at any rate. Good luck with that... I had a donate button on my site for a while, and my total income from it was $0.00 so I took it down. At least then I could tell myself I hadn't made any money because I didn't have a donate button.

I occasionally make some pin money from affiliate links - I have Renderosity, DAZ and PoserWorld on my links page - but payment is in store credit so it wouldn't fund an early retirement in any case. Trying to make a living from Poser content is probably a mug's game; it might be more lucrative in other areas of 3D.

No, no retitrment but at least your poser content archive will be rich with stuff you can occupy youself with when you do retire!  ;)

Add the Donate Button! It won't hurt anyone being there and it might help your budget. Nobody is forced to click it so they shouldn't be offended by it being there.

Cage ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 12:37 PM

Well, I clicked.  And I would click again, but I re-visited your site and it was the same banner again.

Does a right-click, open in new tab count as a proper click?  😕

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Attached Link: Antonia face morphs

Well, I guess nobody will volunteer to give my morphs a quick look to make sure all is well before I post a link, so I might as well just post it. Download at the attached link.

The morphs are in a cr2 that references odf's original Antonia-1.2.cr2 in its default installed location.

fivecat ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 1:16 PM

Oh, I should add that injection morphs should still work as my morphs do not touch the included open channels in odf's cr2.

If I don't hear of any problems, I will add a cr2 for the V3 mapping (or you can edit the readscript line in my cr2 using a text editor to refer to the v3 mapped cr2:  ":runtime:libraries:character:Antonia:Antonia-1.2.cr2" to ":runtime:libraries:character:Antonia:AntoniaV3-1.2.cr2" and save with a new name.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 3:03 PM

I just made a short check of the morphs and except a little thing with eye_outer_down, where the eyes dont move with the morph IMO they are usefull and OK.

Thanks for checking.  I'm not sure what you mean by the eyes not moving -- they aren't supposed to with the morph.  Is there some pokethrough on the eyelids, or do the eye close/open morphs not work as you expect?  The morph is meant to change the geometry around the eye, not the eye itself.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 3:34 PM

If you use i.e. eyes_height the eyeballs follow the morphs with eye_outer_down they dont. There is a litte yTrans necessary, thats all.

Iam just checking in quickly today because I have to tell you that Leo will not be able to help with any changes on Antonia's Free Site for a while. He had to go to the hospital all of sudden and will have to stay there for at least a week. I am not sure if the reason belongs to the public but on the other hand do not want to make you guess and have the darkest thoughts. Last night or during the day he had a stroke. We where not sure about it as the major symptom where massive headaches, normal at the moment as the weather is changing massivly. But then one leg was paralyzed and we know what we had to do. At the moment this is the major symptom, speech, face movement, hands and arms are okay. Those who know him may imagine that he is, although on the intensive care station of the stroke-ward (thank God, we have something like this and just four streets away from our home!)  already asking for pen and paper, his Silo book and so on. I am allowed to bring these things tomorrow (Beside the book. I found out that he sneaked under his jacket secretly before leaving the house) but not his beloved Computer and cats.

Last thing he said when I left him for today was to pass many greetings to "the gang" and so I think it is okay to come here with pretty bad news. I will keep you up to date as good as I can. So far the doctor says he wants to keep him for a week.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

The best of wishes to Leo for a speedy and full recovery, and to you as well ...sometimes the stress of worrying over and taking care of a loved one can make the caregiver unwell also. Try to get some rest when you can.

SteveJax ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 7:02 PM

Prayers and Get Well thoughts from me too.

SaintFox ( ) posted Thu, 10 March 2011 at 7:07 PM

I will pass all your good wishes and nice words to Leo tomorrow when I am allowed to see him again. I know they mean a lot to him - and so do I feel. He doesn't write here a lot but never misses to read this thread (his written english is not as good as he is able to read - and at the moment my english isn't the best as well as I am still a bit "beside the track").

I heard you about taking care for myself. I planned a little "wellness program" (hot shower, good smelling lotion, milk, bread with cheese, two cats and a movie in bed) to keep me from pondering. I need to be fit tomorrow and so some calming down is indeed what I need. Well, of course: This is easier said than done...

SaintFox,

Very sorry to hear the bad news about Leo. Although he does not post here often, I feel like he is part of the core group because of his work on the Antonia site, and because you often tell us little snippets about what he is doing. So although I don't know him personally, I feel a kind of bond around common interests.

Please pass on my best wishes, and hopes for a speedy and full recovery.

Best wishes to Leo for a speedy recovery, and to you for a speedy end to the scary times.

Ok, don't bring on the Kitten Therapy, since I can't get the blasted picture to attach. :(

SaintFox ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2011 at 5:08 AM

Before I go to hospital I want to post some news and lots, lots of thanks for all your good wishes from Leo (yep, dphoadly, I should have used his nickname instead but was too puzzled when I came home - to be exact Leo is the one who cleans up all the seams I leave, creates any model we release and does all those tiny bits in the background that make my work look good).

So... Leo was able to escape with his cellphone and sent me a message: He is already getting Physiotherapy. At the moment he has to use a wheelchair but on the other hand is able to read, speak, grab and touch tiny things. The Pysiotherapist helped him as far as he can now stand (not walk) with eyes closed without getting dizzy. So, as hard as it may be at the moment it looks as if we have the most dangerous part behind us.

Thank you all for your nice and feeling words. I do not want to hijack this thread!! But I can honestly say that you helped me a lot when I awaked today in empty rooms and after at most four hours of sleep. It is very comforting to know that I am not alone.

I will keep you up to date - but will try not to keep away from Antonia.

I am back from the hospital and Leo told me to say Thank You and that the good wishes and prayers work. He misses his work and the forums a lot, as more as a shower and three meals are the highlights of his day - and my visits are kind of distracting but I am not allowed to stay longer than at most 90 minutes at the moment. We know now that the stroke happened in the brain stem so the speech center is indeed not affected. He shows his typical iron will and tries his best to walk but so far it looks a lot like Boris Karloff in Frankenstein (don't blame me - it's his kind of humor...) In fact the situation isn't funny at all but not facing this is the best we can do to calm things down.

Leo was worrying about Antonia's site and that he could not explain me shortly how and what to do if... but I told him what odf said. It will be hard enough to keep him from working too much when he is home again.

And again: Please feel absoultely free to talk about the real subject of this thread. I just came here to tell you what happened because this was the best way to contact you all together with one message.

SaintFox ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2011 at 2:42 PM

Okay and thanks a lot - I was a bit unsure because I am not used to such a situation.... it's simply that I feel that this round is a kind of special one because we worked and work together over such a long time. So I simply asked myself: Would I want to know what happened about any member who posts here or works silently in the background? Yes, I would! Plus I thought that telling you everything in a week or so when someone asks: "May Leo do this or that?" would be too late and end in "Why didn't you tell us?!".

**Beta testers wanted**.

I have converted the Flo Hair, by EnglishBob and Heidi, for use with Antonia. I'm looking for some beta testers to check for any problems, or suggest improvements before it is released to the general public.

The materials are just general default settings, so I would be particularly interested in any suggestions for improvements in that area, as I'm a total material dunce myself. If anyone feels like providing some extra maps, that would also be much appreciated.

If you are interested in testing, please send me an internal message here at Rosity.

This is super-conforming hair, and as such the target figure (Antonia) must be the selected figure before the hair is loaded into the scene. The above image shows how the hair performs with various bends of the head and neck. These are the results with only the automatic JCM in operation. Improvements can be made by applying some of the supplied morphs.

Yes indeed! Well done Les. It works much better than the original Flo Hair, I was always having to tweak that, and be careful how I posed the figure. To be fair, that was one of the first conforming things I made. :)

I've tested the hair in Poser 7, and Les has Poser 6; so we'd be particularly interested in testers who have Poser 8, or one of the recent Poser Pro versions.
