I hate to be negative, but for how long this time? Its kind of like Alice never being released again, at least not until we need a boost in sales.

I love their work but wont be supporting them this time around.

I hope they release that hair set... looks pretty good.

I'm meh on the outfit as a whole.  It's well done as always, but not particularly to my tastes.  Still, I'm glad that they keep making things as they probably are the best in terms of abilities; As Shenam or whichever one does the textures is great.

Dunno why renderosity lost them, but I can guess.

I've always highly respected their work. Its unique. They have some of the best promos anywhere.
The changing, leaving, pulling products to reappear, etc etc gets real old.

It diminishes some of that respect.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GLAAAAAAAAAAAAD they are back :D

toastie ( ) posted Sat, 19 March 2011 at 9:58 AM

Have to agree... while I've always supported them in the past this last spate of disappearing with hints, teases and lack of information (they clearly stated on their forum that they would notify customers and give plenty of warning if they decided to pull their V4 products) has been fairly annoying and seems very unprofessional. I can see now why people had been getting irritated with Aery Soul's strange sales decisions in the past.

I'm not crazy about the new outfit, although I'm sure it's well made and everything. The last few of their sets for V4 seemed to often be reworking of ideas already done for their V3 sets and never really anything new and different.

Btw - isn't the hair in that promo Golden Drops that used to be on sale here?

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 19 March 2011 at 10:07 AM

you know I got somewhat chastised in another thread when i wanted to know why they left and pulled their products from here, etc ....

now they reappear ... isn't anyone curious what goes on in the minds of these folks?

Is it marketing gamemanship  ... an attempt at creating the need to see them back when everyone is sad they left. that all gets pretty damn old too.

Yawn. Never really been interested in their clothing, though I have most of their

hair models, as well as Alice 4. I really don't understand the disappearing and coming

back with a different name, which they've done several times over the years. They have

pretty much alienated their regular customers, but the fanclub will always buy, so I

guess it works out.

K1Kun ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 4:04 AM

Dunno about their 'history' or whatever but frankly that is a pretty crappy outfit. Badly draped, the folds make no sense and it all looks like something a ZBrush newbie would make with the extract tool in 5 mins. If this is an example of their stuff, perhaps they should have taken a longer break.

SteveJax ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 4:15 PM

Wow! Lovin' all the hate in this thread. I'm no fan of AS and think this thread is against the no advertisments portion of the TOS, but I don't see any need to hate on the vendor in question.

MagnusGreel ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 4:42 PM

ok. please. don't use the word "hate" like that. no one here "hates" anything. there's opinions of dislike, of apathy, but no "hate" other than the hate of the misusing of the word "hate"

Greywolf Starkiller ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 9:03 PM

The problem is, these days, unless your reaction is fawning adoration, it's hate.

This is merely people who have been in 3d a loooong time, and have seen AS do

this, what, four times so far, that I know of. It gets rather tiring, and has actually

reached the level of boring. I have Scorpio Rising, the only outfit of theirs that I

actually liked, as well as their hair models and Alice. Everything is high quality.

But I yawned when I saw they were back. They certainly weren't gone for long,

yet some act like they've been gone for years. They're good, but not THAT good.

:)

Eric

SteveJax ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 10:51 PM

The difference between boring and hate is boring goes by without the snarky remarks. Is it a big hate? No, but the snark is totally unneccesary, no matter how long we've been around. That's all. As I've so often been told in these forums by the staff, if you don't like something you really don't have to comment on it.

MagnusGreel ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 10:59 PM

unless the rules are being broken - which they are not - ppl are free to say what they wish.

you do not have to read or answer if you don't like the opinions aired. we are free, just as you are, to say what we want within the TOS.

there are plenty of other threads and you are free to make your own, but we can have 1 thread where we are free to voice our dislikes or apathy, like it or not.

as you say "if you don't like something you really don't have to comment on it."

you don't like this thread....so...?

SteveJax ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 11:32 PM

Oh yes, Let's all stretch out and strain against the TOS with as much force as we possibly can. Let us bash and gnash at the borders as long as we don't break it. You don't want me to use the word hate for your behaviour and yet you have no problem telling me how I should behave. All I'm trying to say is do we really REALLY have to disrespect each other constantly around here? Is there something inherently wrong in just letting people enjoy something that we perhaps do not?

MagnusGreel ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2011 at 11:35 PM

and whats the problem in saying if we don't?

and we are no where near pushing the TOS at all. I suggest you read it?

look, we disagree, and frankly, I can't be bothered arguing about it.  goodbye.

toastie ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2011 at 1:31 PM

Hey I'd forgotten Scorpio Rising - must dig that out and render it again some time.

Seems to me that there was more detail and versatility in some of the V3 stuff than the later V4 stuff... short on ideas maybe?

As a marketing ploy you'd think the disappearing, reappearing, teasing the customers should be a disaster.... but it seems to work for them....

Well it's not so much a problem as it's just dampening the spirit of the thread for those who enjoy AS's products. Pooping on their parade so to speak. It's just not neccesary but of course, do as you like. I just thought it would be nicer if people left well enough alone. Peace out.

How long until the next disappearing act?

I bought Alice 4, the "definitive, last ever, Alice", but I have to wonder...

I have many of their products, love them, so I'm glad they are back. I've been around for quite a few years two, and what I do is not taking anything too personal, they left, fine, they are back, fine. I'll just buy If I see something I like, and I feel like it.

Yeah - I like the Alice body too. For V4 characters I always use Alice body and V4 head. One thing I really don't like is the Alice fairy texture though... looks like she has a bad case of the sniffles!

Yaara was always my fave AS character.

Cariad ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2011 at 9:42 PM

Not keen on the body shapes for Alice any  more than I was with her head.  The bug-eyed thing, the fact to me she looked like an anorexic teenager.  I prefer realistic curves and realistic musculature especially for female characters.  Neither of which Alice has even the 'curvy' version isn't really curvy.  It is just less underfed looking than the others.

As to the new set, it just seems to be a grab at mass marketable content.  Another scatily clad fairy outfit.  The wings I will say look nice, but the body suit is rather bland and the booties remind me strongly of the ones from White Rose honestly.

Now if they would start doing some more cyberpunk influenced stuff like they had for V3, then I could probably work up some enthusiasm.  That and morphs in the clothing that allow me to fit it to figures that don't have bodies like 12 year old boys.

I know there's been a lot said about Alice's body shape in the past....

But it depends on what you're used to and what you see as normal. To me Alice's body shape isn't weird because where I'm from and the people I know tend to be thinner and more angular than people in other places often are.
(In the same way M3 is actually closer to a normal male body shape for me than M4).

Still don't like her head though... maybe I should try those blood alcohol levels - I mean dial settings?

FWIW, I like some of AS's stuff, not others.  Don't really care what they do with their time, name or where they sell.  If I like something and can afford it, I'll buy it.  The end.

You know members can have their differing opinions and it does not have to be said in a "specific" way, the only rule is it has to be within the TOS. People's personalities are different and things get stated the way of that particuliar persons personality..it's that simple. Some sugar coat, some do not, neither way is right or wrong and we should all keep that in mind.
