I had requested  a violin in the freebie section and got this reply by 3 D Finneries and when i clicked on the link  it says I have bee hacked  - is this a joke 0or for real by this person

nruddock ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2011 at 4:38 AM

It's more or less impossible for anyone else to look into if you don't provide links.

bob1965 ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2011 at 7:46 AM

Currently the link to the violin works fine with no message such as you describe.

The person that provided the link isn't given to BS jokes, the provider of the freebie isn't given to BS jokes.

You either attempted download during a kiddie scripter attack on the host site or have a compromised machine.

Regardless you need to perform anti-malware and anti-virus scans on your computer.

nruddock ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2011 at 9:22 AM

Found the page you're talking about, it has an ad banner at the top, which is most likely the source of the scareware popup you got.

Browsing without add-ons like NoScript or something else to control what sites get to run scripts and Flash is plain dangerous.

3DFineries ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2011 at 9:27 AM

I had no problems with the download.  I would NEVER post a link with a virus or malware.

Have a creative day!

Some of the advertising networks, that place ad's using flash/java have had bad or malicious code.  That being said the main page shows HaCkeD By on it and a list of hackers.  Most likely script kiddies.  My mom's site had that done to her a while back, the isp has to get involved as most likely many of the sites that are hosted there are hosed.

One of the reasons I use Firefox with the addons AdBlock Plus and Noscript.

There is some arabic at the bottom that translates through google as

no recognisable pattern to the sites they've hacked, excepting possibly credit card or paypal connexion.  suggest deletion of 3dfineries banner ASAP.  this is one reason why I disable banners/sigfiles (the other reason is they are very annoying, especially at the daz forum site).  they can be hacked and can be security probs even if not hacked, unbeknownst to the user.  this is also one of the reasons certain img-display software is banned from html5/iOS.

My site was hacked.  I removed my banner link.  I DID NOT KNOW my site was hacked & I'm very sorry there was a problem.

Not your fault on that hacking, I would imagine the ISP got hacked and into your site among others.

ladyperiwinkle ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2011 at 2:38 PM

I was shocked! I would have never in a million years think that someone from here would be that low -- I am so sorry to think that -- but hey -- the problem is fixed form the site.

yeah, I looked at the 3dfineries site and the first one sez "posted by admin".  apparently the red hat team hacks into wordpress blogs using security flaw in registration username field.  I dunno how to fix it.  maybe wordpress has got a security update after apr. 16.

It happens every once in a while when WP is updated.  It took a few minutes to fix, but I still have to do some extra security measures. Again, sorry for that.

Yeah, I know.  Sometimes WP is a pain in the butt.

Yeah, I had to go into my PHP & change stuff & delete users.  I'd love to find a new Blog or CMS platform that would work for me.  Too many loop holes in WP's security.

Cleasterwood,

What kind of site? Or better yet what kind of content are you looking to host.

I saw something like that on a link over at the following URL, found this through google the other day while looking for a tricorne for M4.

(I can't cut and paste it for some reason using chrome so if the link don't work it's probably a mistake I made in typing it out)

This is why I believed ya from the get go lady. I hope it's not a sign that someone has it out for us digital artists using DAZ products though.

Too poor to buy a new puter. LOL ;)

Things that make one go hmmmm....though.

Daidalos,

I had ZenCart for a while, but it was content restrictive.  I don't think any hackers have it out for digital artists.  Seems the very same day my site was hacked so was the PS3 network!

I'll evenutally be submitting to Rendo.  I have a few promos to get done before I submit my first work, but right now, my life is upside down & I have to get my home life straight first.

Cleasterwood I can most def identify with that. If you are just looking for someplace to host a blog I might have some help for you. But if your looking for somewhere to host your content, if it's freestuff I'd suggest sharecg of course.

You know, everyone says ShareCG, but I honestly can't stand ShareCG.  Takes too long to view pages when you're surfing or downloading anything from there.  Besides, I like having the control I get from my own site.  :)

Whenever I get a scare type virus, I simply force reboot with the restart button, enter safe mode and do a system restore. That always seems to uninstall the menace. It seems to be the option when the virus won't let me do anything else.
