DAZ|Studio F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:30 am)
HI and thanks for your reply.
A walk path now that sounds interesting.
"Thinking, how do i go about that to my self in Daz 3 ad ? "
How do I do this in Daz 3 ?
I have a bvh climbing stairs but just cant adjust the ups n downs to the stairs .
I was thinking of creating my own animation to fit the staircase 13 steps probably the easy way in the long run maybe.....
Failing that will install an elevator which they can just glide up on , which indeed could follow a path at the right angle etc. That would be a good "cop out" except for one thing I am trying to do this in an old derelict buildingLOL
Thankyou kindly for your advice.
Cheers
Well... that's not cool... I just tried the "walk path" method in DAZStudio, and it unfortunatly doesn't seem to work, atleast not for me.
I tried to use Puppeteer, which is how you add a walk path (by placing dots on the grid wherever you want your character to hit a certain point). But the bvh file doesn't play until she gets to the last dot... not good if they're climbing stairs, they'll just fly up to the top and then decide to take a step up into space, lol... not good -_-
So I will keep doing research, but I'm not sure... you may just have to somehow cut off the ends like you said and duplicate it, but I dont' even know how to do that... lol
Sorry... and good luck!
Thankyou UVDan for your interest,
You have inspired me to give it another shot.
It does look sooo easy , I did try the pin to floor feature but all went a little strange....and I chucked a "wobbly" in frustration.LOL
Perhaps I should have just nailed one foot to the floor first and get all foot movements three steps up the staircase then do the leg movements after etc.
I dont care how long it takes me to do somthing I just want to know "how to do it"
***I know its not too hard to do from what Ive read and once I doit will kick myself for being such a "dumb Bunny"......Thanks
You are welcome. It is not real hard. You need to make sure your steps are sized correctly though. Your figure has to go from the middle of the lower one to the middle of the upper one in one stride. I had to go back several times and move the thighs and shins and then place the figure on the step in the same place. I used the little cubes you see behind the gremlin as markers to show me where to place the figures feet once I had moved him. Work in the left or right view only, not the perspective view.
I did not know there was a pin to floor feature in DAZStudio.
Once you have the foot going from the middle of the lower step to the middle of the step above, then you can add the rest of the body parts movement.

Hello
Have been trying to get M4 to climb the stairs using a bvh file. But no matter what angle i try to start him off at by the time he reaches step three he becomes airborne and continues untill by the time he reaches the top of stair case his head is on the cieling?
The stairs have fourteen steps should i just select the two steps that do work out of the bvh and join seven clips together to get M4 to the top or.......?
***Thanks for any advice.
