Subject: WARNING ABOUT PURCHASING AT DAZ STORE! Sunday 5/29/11

Hi folks, I consider this a public service announcement.  It seems today 5/29 a lot of people are having serious problems at the Daz Store, being charged several times for an item and still not being able to download it.

It happened to me, my debit card was charged five times (totaling almost $100), it kept saying "card declined" or "basket empty".  Thank goodness I stopped trying or I would have lost a lot more money.

There were at least a dozen other posts by people having the same problem.  There has been no official response by DAZ either in the forums or through the trouble ticket I created as to if this problem has been fixed or not.

BE CAREFUL!!!!

Don't make purchases on 3Day holiday weekends.

Quote - Don't make purchases on 3Day holiday weekends.

As I told you in the DAZ forum, it's quite easy for you to say this is no big deal, and I find your holier-than-thou attitude the last thing I need to hear when I am not able to pay my bills because of this problem.

You stated in your other post that you don't understand why people are panicking about this.  So I'll tell you again, it's okay for you if you have lots of money and this might seem like a minor inconvenience, but I'm not the only one that had a whole lot of money mistakenly taken out of their checking accounts.  One guy said he doesn't have any money now for the holiday weekend, his plans were ruined by this "mistake".

So, if you don't have any sympathy for all those people that have been "inconvenienced" (at the very least)  or stuck somewhere without any money (at the very worse) then shut up!

You are just pouring salt on an open wound!

SteveJax ( ) posted Mon, 30 May 2011 at 3:48 AM

It's not my fault you chose to buy from them knowing full well it was a holiday weekend and the store software was acting up and has been ever since the changeover. So you're inconvenienced, but whining all over the internet about it isn't going to get you your money back any faster and it's just going to get you wound up for nothing.

estherau ( ) posted Mon, 30 May 2011 at 4:03 AM

I didn't know the store software was acting up, and I also tried several times, and my cart emptied each time and now I can't even remember all the goodies I had in it, and I haven't got any downloads and I may end up with a big bill so it is kind of worrying.  thanks so much for the alert.

Love esther

The new DAZ Website went live on the 23rd of May and this thread has been live as well with reports of problems with the new site and the new store for a week now. It's a sticky thread at the tippy top of the Commons forum where everyone has had a chance to see it.

thefixer ( ) posted Mon, 30 May 2011 at 5:02 AM

Not everyone uses the DAZ forums stevejax, I don't for one, so I'm glad pzrite has give this heads up on the problems.

I will be sure I check my CC bill over more so than usual when it comes..

Thank you for the heads up pzrite..appreciated.

Your welcome.

And SteveJax, I did not know of any problems, I don't spend my life in the forums.  And what you call "whining all over the Internet", I call trying to be helpful to my fellow Poser artists at Renderosity, who may not have read the Daz forums either.  What's with that attitude?  I don't even know you, never spoke with you before, are you always like this?

SteveJax ( ) posted Mon, 30 May 2011 at 5:29 AM · edited Mon, 30 May 2011 at 5:29 AM

The attitude hit when you told me to shut up. Up til that point I was merely commenting on how ill advised it is to make online purchases over holiday weekends.

RobynsVeil ( ) posted Mon, 30 May 2011 at 5:39 AM · edited Mon, 30 May 2011 at 5:40 AM

Where is "making online purchases on holiday weekends is ill-advised" written? No one tells me anything! Don't tell me "it's common knowledge"... based on what the above posters have intimated, it's no such thing.

Never heard of such nonsense. Daz needs to shut their store until they get this sorted, which is far more to the point than silly bits of advice about when it is or isn't appropriate to make purchases - which, incidentally, includes the third Sunday after the anniversary of my dog getting fixed. But THAT's common knowledge.

Let's not go making excuses for slip-shod store management.

Oh, and does the same advice apply here? Wonder how Rendo management would feel about this sort of "advice" circulating and having an effect on their Memorial Day Weekend sale.

Sheesh.

thanks...i left the DAZ forums so didn't realize there was a problem. Was just looking to buy a couple of items, so I will now wait.

I had that happen on an ebay purchase. my funds were held back for 7 days by my bank, AFTER the company finally contacted them to say the transactions were in error. And that took 2 weeks for them to get in touch with my bank. I would think DAZ wouldn't be that non-cooperative, but they will not be open again unitl Tuesday.

in my, who cares but me opinion, that new DAZ store is terrible anyway. It will help me save a lot of cash. I've been over there since it opened way back in 2000, or whenever that was, so its hard for me to leave, but i think its going to happen now.

Daz wont shut a store thats making them money. Its been their policy for years that there is no support on weekends or holidays.  If you have a problem drop a support ticket and wait three or four business days, or phone them and if you get through it gets resolved faster.

You can lodge a complaint with your credit card company and get them to reverse the duplicate charges.

Thanks for the caution.

I haven't been able to see the store content for days and days due to the site change.  While I was posting in the Commons I noticed that people were having problems with purchasing.

This problem was fixed (I am told) as of 7PM yesterday, DAZ time. That won't resolve the issue for people with orders that failed, so if you have an order for which you were charged but that didn't complete or if you have an order for which multiple charges were applied as you retried you will need to submit a support ticket (I would hope DAZ will be checking anyway, but it doesn't hurt to make sure things are set in motion).

I browsed the Daz store over the weekend but thankfully did not get the urge to purchase! I appreciate the warning - I didn't know it was a long weekend in the States and that would not have deterred me from purchasing anyway if I saw something I really wanted. I also don't hang around the Daz forums much.

Well don't feel too bad about that, we've pretty much made a mockery of every national holiday.  And look what we've done with Christmas, we've turned the birthday of Jesus Christ into an insane month long shopping orgy.  (and I'm not even Christian)

I'm also distressed to learn that most younger folks don't even know the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

Thanks for keeping us informed Richard.  And I apologize for any drama-queen theatrics I might have hurled your way - Although I wasn't aiming directly at you, but in the general direction of DAZ, the company.  And hopefully you'll understand that seeing a third of your checking account disappear, there's bound to be some panic in there.

Thank you.

Oh, and perhaps in the future, DAZ might consider a better system of warning potential customers of trouble.  As stated before, not all of us read the forums.
