Subject: figure style OUTLINE

pauldol ( ) posted Tue, 12 July 2011 at 6:14 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 8:42 PM

Hi all,

I have an object (a hand) and I need to render it with figure style outline .

I can view the hand as outline in the preview window but when I render all textures are loaded.

How can I render the image so as the final output will be just an outlined hand?

Thank you,

Paul

Either render a single frame movie with the render option set to "Preview", or use the Render menu "Antialias Document", then export out the image.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunatelly neither worked for me. I set render to "Preview" but again the final images has all textures loaded

OK. it works now. Thank you.
Any idea on how to choose Document Style "Outline" using python?

From the menu bar, select **Render > Render Settings**, then as in the above image.

:)

X-post. Glad you got it sorted.

I can't see much point in using Python as it would take as long to select and run the script as it does to click the display mode buttons or menu select the display mode.

You can set wireframe and line thickness in the Render>Preview tab if you want a stronger outline

Haha, Les Bentley just posted an image showing the setting tab whilst I was typing

OK, thanks. I need python because I need to render many images (>1600) so I need a script to do this for me.

Thanks,

Paul

In the "make movie" tab you can opt to render an image series rather than a movie, this works regardless of render settings. Besides using preview settings for testing movies I often render sequences in wireframe, silhouette, cartoon modes all as .png sequences (using png's preserves transparency) soi that they can be superimposed on other images
