Subject: [OT] the latest reason for my absence

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 11 July 2011 at 8:53 PM · edited Tue, 31 December 2024 at 9:12 PM

Well.. apart ffrom a severe bout of Rendrblock, work, and the fact that my mother rather unexpectedly passed away in February, this is what's been keeping me away lately:

Two new kitties.

First, meet Adelie, a lovely Cornish Rex we were lucky to get because her previous owners (and breeders) couldn't keep her due to the fact that they live somewhere with a limitation of ONLY TWO CATS.. and Adelie was # 3...

Their loss, our luck.

And then, meet Ozzy, the newest addition to the household. a cute seal point Siamese.

When this pic was taken we'd only JUST got him so he's still a bit nervous about everything. Well that has passed L

Our old siamese, Basil, has decided to hate Adelie, and the feelings are quite mutual. But it's slowly. VERY slowly, getting better. And both of them accepts Ozzy as the kitten he is. They may still bonk him on the head when he gets too close, but without growling or hissing like when Basil and Adelie sets eyes on each other >_<

So.. it's quite.. lively here at the moment. But also a lot o fun :)

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom! :(   hugs

Congrats on your 2 new babies!  I just got 2 new ones myself in January. Spencer and Katie are going to be 10 months on the18th.  They're a handful to be sure.  Abby, my 13 year old isn't sure what to make of them. No kitty piles yet, but she does allow them to sleep near her so long as there is no touching!  lol

My condolances on your Mom passing. My Dad died in June and he was 83 so it didnt come as a big surprise but it was unexpected.

So sorry to ;hear about your mom, my heart goes out to you.

I do understand about cats ... only 2????  Oh, my.  WE have 8 (no ... 7, see thread on Bojangles further down the page) All rescues.  1 at a local WalMart that was being given away and a hyper little girl who wasn't being very nice to it was interested, so we saved it from going home with her.  One was offered to us as a "find" but we knew the father of the house told the kids they couldn't keep him, one from a cat colony where I worked at the time, one from Jo's (my partner) daughter who found a kitten hiding in her yard that had been abandened and finally the kittens (they are over 3 years old now) who were abandened in a local park.  PLUS ... 2 rescue dogs.  We are looking for a house big enough to accomedate all of us.  :)

"Pets" and other animals in our lives are always blessings that help teach us kindness and compassion, if we let them.  Glad you have some new "babies".

Boni

 Cute cats!

Heh Boni. We have 4 cats at present. These are just the two NEWcomers ;)

Hoping for a chocolate oriental soon *crossing fingers that a cat we know and who's about to give birth any day now can deliver one *L)

So you also suffer from the INOMC-syndrome?  (I Need One More Cat ;) )

And thanks all for the greetings and condolences. My mom was 81, and we knew she had cancer. It was still very sudden and unexpected when she died though.

You just never get used to the thought of your parents, of all people, dying. Now I'm an orphan...

I was cured rigeroius from that syndrome when I thought to patch the bad relation between my then two cats by adding a third in a one-room apparment.

I don't have cats now, that nice and quiet, but your pictures rise the urge to travel to Denmark and catnape one or two.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. It's devastating when we lose those we dearly love, especially a parent or child.

Much as I adore them, I can't have cats any more. When they die, I grieve for weeks. My last baby, Buttermilk, was seventeen when we had to have her put down. She was suffering terribly from all the condidtions associated with feline old age, and the vet said it was the best thing to do. Maybe so, but I still feel guilty as hell. Never again.
