Assuming you mean free as in [gratis](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gratis): if you don't pay anything for it, it's free. What EnglishBob said ;). Your post just sounds like sour grapes.

Quote - Okay. i can see the point that's its not very constructive. its not even phrased like its trying to be constructive. Yeah. I get that. Okay. Let's just ignore me for the morning until I find a better way to approach the subject. My apologies.
Well, I can see if you're in a crap mood and going off on a tangent, but for your very first post? Let me just say that we don't even know you enough to ignore you...lolol. And for my own part I have very little sympathy for whiners. For a purchased item, perhaps, but for a freebie? Um, no.

free speech or freedom of expression. now there is a can of free worms. don't assume now. realize even the freedom of expression comes with limitations and carries special duties and responsibilities. These include respect for the rights and reputations of others and also must be clear of libel obscenity slander and incitement to commit a crime. Much like we are all gathered here under a presumption of a common thread of art and more specificly 3D art. so articles presented here have a presumption of use within those constraints. A stand alone product also implies no other unusual or uncommon format would be present in such a offering. That being said the implications of an 'add on' are not beyond reason with the format being common or of the usual expectations of those within the 'membership' of the site. and on that note....i'm getting a bagel. poppyseed with everything. egg and cheese maybe too. thank you for your understanding. LOL
My $.02, on a sleepless night, so I hope this makes sense.
Rarely, if ever, is anything "free". Anything of value usually costs somebody something.
And so, in this forum in particular, I lift my virtual glass in a digital toast -
For all those who have made a creation available to the community for no cost (or low cost) to the community, whether it took a few moments or countless hours to create, whether it was roughly made or finely honed, who have made it available for a few moments or for years on end, whether it was a slight enhancement or a massive project, whether it was with open-ended permissions or contained a highly restrictive EULA, for a wide spectrum of software or a single system and version, from anywhere in the world, with much altruism or with an agenda (within reasonable bounds), and whether I was able to use it or not -
You have my sincere gratitude, my deep appreciation, my full respect, and my heartfelt thanks. You didn't have to share, but you did. And for that, I salute you.
Cheers!
And a second thanks goes to all the individuals, organizations, and companies who have provided the infrastructure and bore the costs of making these creations available. You also deserve recognition, in that your sharing allowed others to share, thus enriching the community.
And double the thanks for all who both created and bore the costs of distribution - your continual generosity is an example of the better nature that is worthy of attention.
with high regards,
Steve
She who shall remain unnamed, who is the target/point of this thread, makes no freebies that are usable with anything other than a cheapo app that she herself sells. She only posts freebies to try and get more sales of her app. While there is nothing wrong or evil about that in and of itself, she insists on constantly making new threads unnecessarily, rather than making one thread and posting about her new addons in that. This would be more than adequate to let the 4 or 5 people who may have bought her app know that there is a new addon available.
The other problem is that she lists her items in freestuff under "Poser -> various figures -> Clothing (meshes and textures)", whereas, as mentioned before, they are executable installers that require another program to be installed, and thus are NOT Poser freebies. She knows who she is, and I'm sure she gets plenty of hatemail about it.
As far as I'm concerned, all other freebie makers are completely outside the point of this thread, unless I have misunderstood what the OP was refering to (but I highly doubt that I have).
I'm not coming down on either side of this but I present the following for your consideration...
The unnamed creator of these freebies could have not made any freebies for the app she sells. IIRC, it was a popular enough app without a lot of freebies for quite a while.
All that said, if I've interpreted things correctly, it's not an essential app, since the Material Room can do the same thing without it.
Still, free is always nice.

The page EnglishBob linked to says it all.
Anyone who makes stuff for free should be thanked, not lambasted. It really is a case of "If you can't say anything nice, say nothing".

Anyone seen the remains of that horse around here?

If someone makes a free product be it stand alone or otherwise ..it is from a place of generosity , a rare thing these days. If they make texture expansion or something like Froglace and Chohole and many others do freely and with good heart and you dont own the outfit it's your choice to BUY the item or not , thus determining if you NEED the freebie or not. It's not creators fault its downloaders choice.
Basically, the main problem above all else is that this particular person miscategorizes their freebies. If their freebies were properly categorized, there would be no problem :)
Imagine if, for example, I made a bunch of Vue freebies, but continuously insisted on putting them in the Poser section.
If it sounded like I was complaining about freebies, then I apologize, as that was not my intention. However, Renderosity provides many categories for members to place their freebies in, which allow the people their freebies are intended for to find them more easily, and this member is using the categories incorrectly. Their freebies should all be in "Misc. -> Utilities", but most are instead in "Poser -> various figures -> Clothing (meshes and textures)".
Finally, let me clear the air by thanking all freebie providers for taking the time to create and upload something for free, as this is one of the many things that keeps the Poser community a community :)
I believe the categorization is right; they are textures and they are for multiple figures.

I think this thread should be locked!
I agree, that people who make freebies should be thanked, regardless of what that freebie is. They don't have to make them. It's very generous of them to make them, period!
I want to scream whenever I see someone's generosity criticised!
I want to apologize to the person this thread is very obviously directed to for the rudeness of some people demonstrate. Your talent is appreciated, and so is your generosity and I hope you won't stop doing what you enjoy and sharing your creations because of this.
