Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
One way to do it is to lock the arms etc, before you apply the walk cycle. Locked actors don't get affected when you apply a pose, or use the Walk Designer. After applying the walk cycle, you can unlock the actors.
Alternatively, fix it after the fact. Say the walk starts at frame 20, and the arms etc are in the correct position at frame 19, make a key frame at frame 19, apply the walk cycle, then delete frame 20 and above from the arms.
The usual way to do it is to apply a pose to lock the hands, fingers, and arms. I'm not familiar with the Alyson fugure, but suspect that at least in relation to the hands, fingers, and arms, V4 Lock poses would work. You could try my freebie "Lock Actors V4" from sharecg.
Hi
This is the way that I do it.
I often do this to keep the arms from going through the body when they swing back and forth while walking.
Go into the Animation Palette and select Shoulder.
Open the drop down Remove all the key frames for the shoulder Up Down movement after your starting frame. I'm usually just moving them out from the body a little and keeping the rest of the movement so that the arms still swing but further out from the body.
If you don't want the arms to move at all, after your start frame just remove all the key frames for Shoulder, Forearm, and hand.
Not having any movement won't look natural so you should go back after removing all the movement and put some movement back in so that the arms move a little as the character walks.

Hello all.
I'm trying to have the character Alyson keep her arms up while she walks but when I use the Walk Designer and let her walk the defined path her arms immediatly go with the animation walk of swinging. Is there a way to tell the Walk Designer to have the character do the walk but to not animate the arms so they retain the pose I have them in from the start?
Ultimately I want Alyson to walk a circle while holding up a sign but its not working because her arms seem to only follow the pose defiend for the walk in the Walk Designer. Thanks in advance.
