Maria and Chipka, thanks so much for sharing, the intense words and meaning of it, for you both, and for so many people!

Here my last upload.
Allready said, that music is a treasure for me. So, two of my instruments, I took them into our garden to photograph.
Well, a piano you can not take out, not even an organ, hahaha!
But really, how music can give you pleasure and touch the emotions so deep, is a wonderful thing, right?
Bye everyone, it's a great challenge so far :D

myrrhluz ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2011 at 12:03 PM

I agree wholeheartedly, Jacomina!  I don't play any instrument and my singing is nothing to sing about, but music enrichess my life in so many ways.  I can't imagine life without it.  Beautiful image!

kgb224 ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2011 at 1:05 PM

Marie thank you for those treasured words.

Chipka a wonderful treasure that you shared.

May your dreams become true.

Mies music is a treasure that everyone can and do enjoy.

Thank you for sharing the musical instruments.

God Bless.

emmecielle ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2011 at 1:19 PM

Splendid image and words, Cipka!  :-)

Music is important in the lives of us all, dear Mies. Unfortunately I not play any instrument! However, there's my grandson, who is 10 years, studying the guitar since last year! :-)

Helle, great image of your son and grandson sharing their interests.  I love their concentration.

Bernie, I'm glad you got Holger to give us such a lovely smile.

Beautiful captures of your loved ones.

myrrhluz ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2011 at 4:38 PM

Two more excellent pictures, Bernie!  The youth and nature are treasures we neglect at our peril.

Chipka ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2011 at 5:14 PM

I love making little discoveries.  I agree that music is a treasure, and it's funny, I've discovered a "new" treasure...well...new for me.  It's music, but it's ancient Roman music.  It's odd how incredibly "modern" it sounds.  Gorgeous photo, dochtersions.

And as for family members Nerd-ing, well...I don't have any of those, but families sharing nerd moments is a treasure indeed.  I think nerds are what make the world go around, though I've never seen nerd-ing in Danish.  I love this shot, Helle.  I love their expressions too.  I especially like the plant in the background, here we call it "Mother-in-Law's Tongue," because it's slightly sharp.

And yeah, boyfriends are a treasure beyond compare, especially when they're cuddly!  Great shot, bernieloehn: such a warm smile.  I love this thread and I'm off to look for a second treasure...and speaking of nerd-ing, the whole searching for 3 treasures reminds me of the classic Nintendo 64 game, Zelda.  Now if only there was obnoxious Midi-induced music to accompany my quest.

@Maria   Thanks for sharing these beautiful words and memories. I agree 100% that friendship is one of the most importrant treasures a man can have, and it is priceless to everyone. Great imagination for this Treasure shot :)

@Chipka   I love your original mind. You can look at any subject and bring it to a whole different place. Awesome view on this treasure, and this shot depics your views perfectly. Cool postwork :)

@Jacomina   Interesting that these are yours because a few weeks ago here at Open Mic at the cafe, I was astounded by a man playing almost the same instrument as on the right! Both are beautiful instruments, great find for your treasures :)

@Helen   Great candid portraits of your two treasures :) Family is always close in my heart, as well

@Bernie    What an awesome idea! I should take a hot pic of my man haha and 'wow' to being together for 16 years! Thats a long time for anything, wishing you 16 beautiful more years together :) Looking forward to your next two shots

I Treasure the memories that are stirred when you see the things from your childhood that bring these memories alive, we used to go to wagon trains when we were little and there would be people who enjoyed and lived for the simple things in life and this cowboy image stirs those memories for me because a lot of my older relatives live or lived the cowboy way of life

@tball   Glad to see you entered the car shot! Beautiful classic. And I also like your HDR shot, beautiful colours. And I agree that memories are treasures, great depiction of it.

@Garage   I love this shot, I remember seeing this in your gallery before, and I loved the feel of the sepia tone, and low POV. Great personal shot with your awesome guitar :)

Here is my first shot, taken today, of my parents. It is so hard to get a good shot of my parents, you have no idea (you should see the results of trying to get a full family portrait! haha) My parents are treasures to me, especially my dad, who is fighting cancer. After something like that you understand what you really treasure in your life.

Here are my folks. Hope you like this first entry :)

Here is my second shot. I love the way this turned out as a macro, and the raspberries on top were grown in my mothers garden, which is now Oma's garden because of the new little additions to the Kozub family. I cherrish my mothers garden for the memories it makes, and these raspberries grow with love every year. I hope you like my second entry :)

I’ve always held a particular affection for fruit flies; they’re small.  To some, they are a bother.  Pests.  But we share so much in common with them: chromosomes in particular. For me: I can’t explain—fully—what it is that draws me to them.  I think it’s because they are flies: creatures venerated by the ancient Egyptians for their abilities to avoid being smashed.  Fighters were taught to emulate the behavior of flies (especially the nasty one and not the harmless “dew lovers” like fruit-flies.)  I think, ultimately, I like flies because no one else does.  They’re regal and dignified creatures who don’t pretend to be something that they’re not: and like cockroaches, no matter how dirty we say they are, perhaps they’re just a reflection of the things we don’t like in ourselves…after all, fruit flies (cockroaches, houseflies, and other “dirty creatures”) spend their lives cleaning up after other organisms.  They live on what we leave behind; they are Nature’s janitors, and without them and other “vile” creatures, the world would actually be a truly dirty place.  That’s what I like about flies, and—yes—cockroaches as long as they're not my roommates.  Leave them alone lone enough and let them do what they do, and they eventually clean up after you AND themselves.  There’s a lesson to learn, there.

I like them—as well—because like any insect, you have to approach them with a mind free of judgment.  After all, a mind filled with judgment has no room for thought.  Anything able to teach a lesson like that is a treasure indeed.

During a visit at the Zoo 20 August I was just a little to late to watch a birth of this little Kudo Calf. This shot is taken 19 minutes after birth. It was so exiting to watch how mum clean the baby. So for me it is a treasure to face this wonderful tenderness from mother and baby

Dutch crisp bakes is the traditional food served to celebrate the birth of a baby in the Netherlands, though they also are eaten regularly outside of birth celebrations. In this case the woman is pregnant from a baby girl.

Here a brief explanation

Dutch crisp bakes. They are round, and are prepared by baking a small cylindrical bread,
cutting it in half and baking a second time. They are spread with butter (or margarine) and the muisjes (lit. ‘little mice’) are sprinkled on top.
These muisjes are sugared aniseed balls. They are sold in a mixture of two colours: White and pink and white and blue, and it has become a custom,
but not a universal one, that the latter (blue) are served when a boy is born, and the former (pink) for a girl.
When a child is born in to the royal House of Orange, orange muisjes are sold.

This is my third post for this challenge :) Awesome idea for this month. Everyone has great posts.

I saved my last post because I knew I'd have an awesome shot from my week long trip in Tofino, BC. And also on this trip I realized that I treasure nothing more in this world than my fiance. He makes my world spin, and he is the most amazing person I've ever met. This is him and I on Long Beach in Tofino, BC.
