Subject: Salome Headpiece Question.

3DFineries ( ) posted Sun, 28 August 2011 at 1:20 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 5:12 PM

Hi all,

I'm curious about the headpiece on Salome.  I've yet to get it but am really leaning toward buying it (even if it has a morph issue) but I'd like to know two things before I take the plunge.

Is the hair part of the headpiece?

If yes, can you turn the headpiece off so you just get the hair & vice/versa?

Thanks ahead of time!

Lynn

I don't own Salome, but if it's one part you can go use the grouping tool to select a material (for example the headpiece) and turn this into a separate prop. I do these quite often and it works quite good...

If worse comes to worse, I could try that trick.  :)  I forgot about that option, thanks for reminding me.  :D

I have this product. I haven't used it yet.  But I'll have a look once the render that I'm running is done.

I just had a look at the editorial page.  It states that there are options to turn off the bangs and shoulders.  And in the Readme it shows that there are "bangs on/off"   and
"shoulders on/off" morphs.

So the answer to being able to turn off the entire head of hair, is no.  But you can hide the bangs and shoulders of the hair.

If you like, I can still open the product up in Poser and double check for you.

I'd appreciate it if you could open it up for me.  I'm just wondering if I can turn off the headpiece & see just the hair.  If not, I'll decide what to do. I just may get it & rework it if I must.  :)

Ok I'll have a look for you.  If there isn't, you might be able to make a transmap to hide the headpiece entirely. I'm not so good at that stuff, but I'll have a look at the texture template and see if I can figure out if a transmap might be possible.

Thanks Acadia.  Appreciate it.  I was thinking of that as an option as well.  Stitch Witch makes some things really easy to do.   :)  It may be tedious to hide all the parts with trans, but if the hair is fully modeled underneath then it'll work.

Ok.  I opened the head piece in Poser and there is a hide bangs, shoulders and veil. But no way to hide the headpiece itself.

I looked at the textures and it doesn't look like the hair is fully modeled. It looks like it is part of the head piece itself.

However, like I said, I'm not very good at reading more than the very basic texture map, so you might want to contact Val3dArt just to make sure.

Thanks Acadia!  I kind of thought that might be the case.  I appreciate all your help.  :)
